Is it a regular toaster or toaster oven? I think it could start a fire in a regular toaster if the grease gets on the heating elements.

Yes It could be dangerous, So keep an eye on it if he keeps doing it or just break the toaster so he cant use it anymore!:)

if the toaster shorts out the oil from the butter could catch fire, but i dont think it would necessarily be the thing that starts it.

I had an English Muffin, toasted with butter and strawberry preserves this morning. the following day morning i will have a toasted bagel with butter and cream cheese! unsure which i like terrific.

You're roomate is an idiot and should be caged, or at least tied up until the age of 30. Perhaps then you won't have your house burned down around your ears. One more thing--does this roommate of yours drive and if so, where? I want to make sure I avoid the area if at all possible.

HELLO BILL! Yes this is dangerous!!! Tell your room mate to toast first then butter. I wonder if he/she would boil water then stir with his/her hand??? That's one to ponder...
