I was recently dianoised with this and am not sure what it is. So anyone who can explain it to me.

Hi.. the best thing to do when we are diagnosed with a mental illness is to do our research -- you have a world of resources right at your fingertips here on the internet...
I have listed a few sites for you, and the last one, bpdrecovery.com seems to be a community for people who have been diagnosed with the disorder -- including forums for discussion.
You can find more information by doing a yahoo search on BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER, or BPD SELF HELP, EMDR THERAPY (a type of therapy which is used for BPD and something which you might find interesting when you have the time to look into it).
I can't believe your doctor didn't discuss this with you and give you more information!
Please remember that all borderlines do not have the same symptoms. You will read about a variety of symptoms. . Just because there is a list of symptoms doesn't mean each one applies to you.
If your loved ones are involved with your recovery and treatment, maybe share any websites and information which you find interesting and helpful.

It's a very confusing disorder, in fact most mental health professionals don't know how to treat this. There are 9 criteria that makes a BPD and to be diagnosed with it you must have at least 5 of the 9. Try (BPDcentral.com) it has alot of information and the criteria is DSM IV I think. Borderline Personality Disorder, (BPD) is defined as a mental illness primarily characterized by emotional dysregulation, extreme "black and white" thinking, or "splitting", and chaotic relationships.

i was also diagnosed about 4 months ago. this is a very complicated thing. way more to it than people even know. email me and we'll chat. i am doing much better now that i know what i do. don't worry hun, we're on the right path
