"If Californians are having fewer children, where are all the people coming from?"

"It's a tragedy that our leaders, including the nation's Presidential candidates, lack the political fortitude to address one of the nation's most pressing problems. We can't allow them to ignore this issue any longer," said Diana Hull, President of CAPS. "Here in California, the ocean is so polluted from runoff from overbuilding that we can only swim on certain days of the year," she continued. "The air is so bad in many counties that our kids have the highest incidence of asthma in the country. Emergency rooms are closing. Schools are overcrowded and illegal immigrants are responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime. These problems are not unique to California, although they are more prevalent here. Americans must insist that our leaders address the immigration issue immediately, or we'll leave the next generation even more intractable problems than we have now."

The primary point of the commercial is that virtually all of California's population growth over the past decade has been the result of a massive influx of immigrants and births to foreign-born women, not from the high birth rates of native Californians or from Americans moving here from other states. The campaign's facts are based on multiple studies demonstrating that native-born Californians are leaving the state and/or having fewer children while immigrants and births to immigrants are increasing the state's population by 500 thousand more people each per year, affecting every aspect of life in California.

i agree that it is hard to muster up sympathy for California who prided themselves on being so liberal and now it seems that it is going to bite them on the butt and the hand that fed 'them' but it is an issue that affects us all now.

I have received the mailings from CAPS about this commercial and I definitely agree.
A few of the idiots here say that "wasn't CA part of Mexico?" and refer to Hidalgo. Well of course it was...just like the majority of Europe was under the Roman Empire, like the Normans, Saxons, Vikings, etc..invading England and conquering the land and then becoming part of it.
Land changes hands...get over it...

I wonder if you've heard about the Dream Act that might be voted on tomorrow. I've called & sent faxes to my Senators..

Haven't seen it, but then I was smart enough to get out of that toilet in 1992 when I got my medical retirement from the military. Do you know those fools wanted me to mail them a pro-rated portion of my retirement in taxes cause they ssay I earned it there. I wrote them a big F U and mailed it back. I hate California, wish it would have a 50 quake and slip into the ocean.

Remember Prop 187. Also Remember "our" Senators that wouldn't support it.

What the "H" when the energy crisis collides with the baby-boomers' retirement bill the 1st world won't have an economy anyway.

Poor California, I think it used to be one of the loveleist states.
We moved there in 1959,station wagon full of kids and big dreams( I was one of the kids).
I left broken hearted from there in 1991.It was going to crap back then.I have only gone back twice just to visit my sister and my moms grave. You are right,my one sister died after moving back there from a asthma attack in 1992.I hate that place,it makes me sad.

When you speak of native Californians do you mean the Indians or the Spanish? Be careful when you are considering your answer because the Aliens have decoded the protection devise on your aluminum foil helmet and they will creep into your mind, that is assuming they can find it.
