Wisdom teeth are your third molars, We actually have 32 teeth NOT 36 like the guy said below, don't be fooled by his mesial and distal talk.

It comes in because in the past humans need it to chew meat from animals better, we used to eat raw animal meat. Now that we eat different things were not really in need of our third molars.

A lot of mouths cant fit the third molars but some can, Even if they can its always suggested to have them pulled because of decay or calculus that forms usually interproximally or distal of our third molars due to lack of care just because it just so darn far back there. Plus sometimes they impact our other teeth while growing in .

Theres only 4 third molars but in total we have 12 molars,8 bi cuspids,4 cuspid, 4 laterals, and 4 incisors. so yes its 32!!!!! but we really only need 28

Oh i almost forgot to add we do not have 36 SETS of teeth we only have 2, deciduous teeth ( baby) , and permanent ( adult)teeth

Evolution..our mouths are generally smaller therefore can't accomadate the extra third molars.
Normally we have 32 teeth (not 36 sets... wouldn't that be nice!) but people can have five,three...etc. They're the most variable in size, number, and shape.
Most of time they're consider non-functional.

if you have enough space in your mouth for them and they will cause no problems then you dontt have to pull them out i think but most peoples mouth is already crowded with teeth and there is no room for them to grow properly or they are growing in funny and will cause probllems so they have to get them pulled. im not sure why we get wisdom teeth though, i havent got any and im 20 , mine just never grew? what a weird thing to happen though ... you get all your permannent teeth and then some wisdom ones grow later...weird?

hi.most people call it wisdom teeth, which is a misnomer correctly we addressed it as a third molar.its basically part of our set of teeth we have 36 sets of teeth, its being pulled of if caused pain or discomfort coz some people have naturally small jaw and cannot accomodate 36 of them thare is a tendency you have misalligned teeth. or it can erupt on different position it can be vertical or horizontally, distally or mesially and it has different depht too related to the suroounding bone ant tooth.
