It's not normal for the average person, perhaps you are going through something/or had went through something that became symbolic at that moment that made you have a release of emotion.

Maybe not for most people. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with what you did. You did your best to help the pidgeon and you weren't able so do so being an animal lover you were upset. It shows that you care and are kind hearted.
We need more kind people in this world. Thank you for trying to save the pidgeon.
Don't worry about whether it is normal Be Yourself

I think you did all you could and that's very thoughtful, the death of the pigeon might of bought on some feelings in you that you have yet to resolve. Breaking down is a release of emotions and can be healthy but needing to know why you had such a long period of hurt does raise some question. Try to invest some time into yourself and maybe find your answer. I can only provide words and yes I think it is normal if you understand your own emotion. Good Luck and the Pigeon appreciates your help and kindness.

I think you did what was best for the animal... and you are experiencing a normal, human reaction to having to destroy the animal.

Everyone reacts differently. I'm sure you felt it a shame that the bird was ill and in pain. He is now out of pain, thanks to you. If you didn't come along, the animal might likely still be suffering.

sending hugs.

Of course. You are a compassionate person. I think you did the right thing. You'll be fine in day or so. Just remember it's the cycle of life.

It was a living creature, and you wanted to help the animal. Yes, it is normal. But, you did your best, and that is what really matters.

Yes. It is respect for a life. Even hunters, have this feeling when they kill an animal for food.
