Go to gunbroker, and buy a mosin nagant m91-30, or if you want a shorter gun, a mosin nagant m44, or m38. All great guns, very reliable, very accurate. A good price is about $150.00 or less. So you'll have money for ammo. :) If you go with one of these, before you shoot, take it apart and spray the chamber and barrel with Gunscrubber 2-3 times. These are very old rifles, and the antirust solvent dried up long ago, and when you shoot, the heat turns it into a glue. But the gunscrubber will fix that really fast, and You'll be left with a perfectly working rifle. Believe me, I own one. Buying another soon. These use a 7.62x54r bullet, and pack a punch. They kick alot, too, but I love em. Good ammo to use is Bear or Wolf, it's well made, and non corrosive. These are very high quality rifles, the only reason they're so cheap is because they're old, and there's 17.4 million of them.

There is a book called the "Blue Book of Gun Values" published every year. I covers most firearms and is pretty much the standard for the buying and selling of NEW guns.

You can use it as a guide in regards to age condition and origin of the guns you want to sell and not get "taken" by someone trying to get over on you. The 25 Dollars spent on the book may pay for itself if you sell the right gun for the right price, vice letting someone rip you off.

Gunbroker.com (as mentioned) will give you a really good idea of what most guns are actually selling for, between the two you should be able to get a fair price for your guns.

gunbroker.com

Type in the info in the search bar and then where it says "show only" (middle left), scroll down and hit "completed auctions". That will give you the prices that those weapons have gotten in the last several months. There is no more up to date system for finding real world values.

Go to GUNSAMERICA or Gunbroker.com. No cost whatsoever; you can plug in your make and model and see what a similar item is listed for sale at. Conditions counts, yada. Just use your head and be realistic.

pick up a copy of "shotgun news" at barnes and noble. Purchase a new edition of "the bluebook of gun values" at most gunshops or at book stores. Both will help you.

Most of the retailers websites have MSRPs on them, which are probably a little less then what he paid for them if he paid retail.
