Sadly there are similarities between Israel/Palestine and South Africa. Even Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa, made this comparison so this is a fair question posed.
Palestinians cannot drive on certain roads WITHIN the Occupied Territories, they have different coloured license plates which keeps them from entering Israel, they have different rights, Palestinians are imprisoned without charges, and so on. To me, this is apartheid. If the situation were reversed and Palestinians were doing this to Israel, I would voice the same opposition. I don't care who is doing what, all I know is that it is unfair and needs to stop.
Please read the article at http://www.religion-online.org/showarticle.asp?title=2640 which was written by Lutheran World Relief. As well, read http://www.thenation.com/doc/20020715/tutu which was written by Desmond Tutu and Ian Urbina.
Even the Red Cross says Israel disregards humanitarian law: http://www.ifamericansknew.org/cur_sit/rchl.html as well as Amnesty International: http://www.amnesty.org.uk/news_details.asp?NewsID=17362
It is well-documented that Israel has violated all sorts of international laws, such as Geneva Conventions and UN resolutions.
Just because people don't want to believe or admit these things are going on is no reason to report this question as "abusive"!
As I've said many times before, ALL have to follow international laws no matter who they are!! For all those who care about Israel, instead of denying what is going on, join the thousands of Jews who are fighting on behalf of peace and justice because there will be no peace without justice!

Sure there were a couple of countries that were against sanctions then,as some posts above have said, that was in their best interest at the time, but the overall majority of nations chose sanctions as a tool to end Apartheid and do not have regrets, if they did they would have said so. Most nations in the international community were in fact surprised by the peaceful transition to a democracy and were very complimentary about that, why would they now be less critical? I am sure they understand that SA has currently many challenges facing them that need urgent attention why would they have any remorse, all who now live in SA can vote and thereby dictate who should govern the country.

I do NOT agree with the politics of the State of Israel. Point blanc, but I always try to be fair.
First of all, Israel is being sanctioned by Arab countries.
Also in most countries you will not be able to become a citizen of the country unless you are a woman and get married to a national. Even not, when you are born in the country.
You will not find non nationals in the goverments.
No Jew or Israeli is allowed to enter KSA and also other Arab countries.
On paper all Israeli citizen (no matter if Arabs or what religion they have) are granted the same rights. Btw. there are Arabs in the Knesset.
I will not deny that there is racism going on in Israel. But - show me one country where not. Regarding racism there are many other countries doing worse than Israel.
The Israel - Palestinian conflict is different and shows some aspects of Apartheid but is something totaly different.
I live in the richest and most expensive city of the Middle East. If you want to know what racism is, you should come here. If you were born here you still won't be granted citizenship. You will not receive any benefits like the nationals and your salary will depend on your nationality. If you got no job you have to leave. If you are not a Muslim you are not allowed to marry a local girl. And this list could go on and on.
Should this country be sanctioned? Hope not.

That is all the UN does is sanction us. We are not like South Africa. Read your history books! We have tried to make peace with the "Palestinians" and they don't want peace. They want Jerusalem and they want the Jewish people to cease to exist.
Maybe we should think about sactioning groups of people who send children out to be suicide bombers, blow up buses, execute children for violations of shiria law etc. Those are my thoughts.
My thoughts are also that the Arabs are crying for return of land that was seized in a war they started. Get over it!
When will the world learn that Israel has every right to exist and we do so in the middle of nations that want nothing more than to see our existence cease? Amazing!

No, Israel is not the same as South Africa was.
And when you say sanctioned, sanctioned for what actions?

I think you are quite wrong.
Inside Israel itself (i.e. excluding the territories) there is no state discrimination against any group, including Israeli Arabs. This is certainly not apartheid. As for the territories, as many people are quick to point out, they aren't officially part of Israel. The civilians living there are not Israeli (nor do they want to be) meaning that there is no reason to grant them civil rights. This isn't discrimination or apartheid, as both of those terms refer to intranational status. Any discrimination is simply a matter of granting civil rights to citizens and not non-citizens, a wholly logical and accepted practice.

Shall we not disband the UN?
the UN is useless and biased, it all comes down to bribery- to the cash from the oil shieks funding the secretary general's cruise trips and plasma tv's

Israel does not engage in Aparthied - your premise for your question is false. I do not believe in punishing people for crimes or unethical behavior they have not done.
Good Luck!!!

Sure as soon as they ban israeli jews from marrying israeli arabs, setting up separate theaters and restaurants that arabs aren't allowed to come to, ban arabs from the knesset.... If you're too young to remember what apartheid was, better read up on it so you'll know what you're talking about. I'm sure exploiting what the black south africans went through is easier when you don't actually know what it was, but be prepared to have the differences pointed out to you.

I think you just made up a user,
Israel accepts all races, not like many arab countries... which have race class (Sheii, suni etc..)
Supremicy - do you call self defence that? then you live in a different world with different definition then I.
to conclude everything you said is wrong, and totaly irresponsible
