I heard on the radio today where they said it cost $40,000 to raise a child from birth to age 18. I thought that was strange because in 1990 I figured it to be around $50,000, and I figured it would be more by now (because of inflation).

If we knew, we probably wouldn't have started having kids!

It really doesn't change. It takes whatever you have. If you have more, you use it. If you have less, you use it. And someone forgot to mention that "18" part to mine-- the difference is now I'm seen as a supplement instead of the main bank. I'm not saying this in a bad way, it brings home the fact parenthood doesn't have endings.

inflation changes things every year.

We have an infant and spend maybe 50 bucks a week on him, plus little things he doesnt NEED but we want for him.

My parents raised me and my two brothers on 350 bucks a week, iam 24.

I believe if you ask the 'experts' the cost is something rediculous like 350000 total.

Well it depends if you are going to go expensive, or you can just take it day by day, i mean i buy my kids good clothes, at cheap prices, and i have 4 baby's.. so what i am saying is if you want it expensive it's going to be expensive, but it can also be cheap it is really up to you.

Good lord, I don't even want to contemplate the answer. Let's just say way more than you were expecting, and leave it at that. LOL.
