did they have sex or they ate the fruit? because looking at the book of genesis, it is a historical book and not a prophetical.

Perhaps there was no sin. Sin is never mentioned in the story. How old were they when God created them? Perhaps they were children, they lived happily in their Father's garden until puberty when they became aware of their sexuality and covered themselves. Their Father raised them to be independent and when the time came, He sent them out into the larger world to fend for themselves, knowing all the while that He would be there for them whenever they needed Him. Perhaps God expects us to take care of ourselves, our parents, and others in need -- when the time is right.

Perhaps God wanted them to learn slowly and by experience in order to become wise, but they were impatient and wanted immediate gratification. They learned from their mistake. They gained knowledge and then had to use it to determine right from wrong.

According to the story, they did what God wanted them to do, and knew what they were going to do prior to the time he said, "Let there be light." He created them knowing this would happen, that they would disobey him in favor of his talking snake and eat the forbidden fruit. The fruit, ironically was the thing that could have given them a knowledge of the value of obedience to God.

Besides, in the story, God lied to them. He told them that they would surely die if they ate the fruit. They did not upon eating the fruit, in fact, the story said they had a very long life, thereafter. Some may say that they would have been immortal had they not eaten the fruit, and that their death was eventual, not literal. Cherry pickers like to be the ones to say when certain parts of the bible are literal and which are symbolic.

It's a parable, not either historical or prophetic.

The sin was disobedience, in eating the fruit. Like most sin, it was rooted in pride.

Where would anyone get the idea that sex was the sin? Milton thought the sex was way better before the Fall!

Read the bible so that you will know what you are stating.

It is natural for them to have sex because Adam was created as a man with complete parts of the body of a man while Eve was also created by God with complete parts as woman. It is not their sin to have done the sexual act because that is needed from a man and woman.
It is very clear on the bible that they have violated the law of God because of touching and eating the tree of knowledge for a right and wrong.

They disobeyed God by eating the fruit. Having sex would not have been a sin since God gave Eve to be Adam's wife and He told them to be fruitful and multiply. While Genesis is largely a historical book it does contain some prophecies. In addition to God's promise to bless Abraham and to make him a blessing to all nations in Genesis 3 you have a somewhat veiled prophecy of Jesus coming to defeat the Devil.

Genesis 3:14 The LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. 15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."

I say that it was somewhat veiled because the details of who and how and when this would occur had yet to be revealed.

Romans 16:20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Hebrews 2:14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself (Jesus) likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.

They were intended to have sex. They were a married couple. Why else would they have been created with sexual anatomy? The sin was disobedience to God. This is symbolized by the eating of a particular forbidden fruit, but we don't know the actual nature of their disobedience.

the book is theological, not a straight history--but it contains history.

They disobeyed God because the tree looked real fun and having the knowledge was pleasurable.

Genesis 3:6 6 (a)When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

prior to the disobedience,no sexual sin is mentioned.

Eve ate fruit. It was not part of the low carb diet that was expressly approved by God. God commanded that they stick to a high protein diet with lots of meat and dairy products. She should have killed that snake and cooked him on a stick!

Eve sinner by eating the fruit that God told them not to. She was decieved by the serpant. Adam sinned willfully not being decieved for the love of his bride. 1 Tim 2:14. Jesus also willingly took sin upon himself for his bride and did it out of love.
