Funny a lot of you claim your humanitarians and you care about mankind but not God, but if you care about mankind don't you think the world would get along better if we all had one agreement on God's existence?

Listen you guys are convinced that the Bible is B.S. handed down, for what to control humans and keep them in line?

Let us say science has some things right and Homosapiens have been around for 250,000 years. If that is the case why did humans wait so long to write the Bible? Sure there is the book of the dead and what not but nothing is as old as science says humans are. The pyramids are only 6000 years old. Why did it take so long for humans to figure out math?

Listen please trust me, the Bible may seem to contradict and but there is a God he says his name is "I am whoever I am" why? because he is many things does it not make since, please you don't have to recognize Christians beliefs but at least you can start by acknowledgeing your Creator.

PLEASE!! Don't you all see you are all on the defensive! You do not need to be. I don't know what personal thing a church may have done to push you from God or schools may have taught you but don't you see THIS IS FOR YOU! God does love you I know you are tired of hearing it but it is true God tells me every day! When I get angry at peoples disbelief and I want to hate God tells me to BACK OFF, I LOVE THESE LIKE THE REST.
I could care less if any of you go to church all God wants you to do to recieve life is acknowledge there is a God and LOVE ONE ANOTHER as he said why is that so hard?? God talks to me is it so hard to believe? Open you hearts to the Spirit and he will speak to you also. Truly I tell you. I beg you sit and ask for a sign if that is what you need but do not ask in the supernatural or in ignorance because God has said the sign will not be supernatural rather recognize your Blessings are from God and more will flow to you I promise!
Christ Be With You All. AMEN

Ok.... first things first ...

I've never seen a Bible at the Dollar Store.

Aside from that, it's probably good to note that I'm not an atheist exactly, but I'm certainly not a Christian.

So here is your problem: You wish for us to adopt a faith that requires belief in your book of scriptures; a book that we do not accept as authoritative or accurate. That we find it lacking should have already been apparent to you. To convince us, you ask us to procure for ourselves this book, and to read it. You hope this act will help convince us. Do you happen to see the flaw in your logic?

I submit this as well: many of us HAVE read the Christian scripture. I've certainly done so. I also posses a number of copies of that book in various translations. Being a former Christian myself, I have certain parts committed to memory. I simply don't believe this book points to any one-and-only truth, nor do I believe that man is destined to hell.

As to the specific verses that you point to, if you believe your scripture to be true, why do you not hope for the justice of your god? Why do you not wish that the unjust should be punished for their transgressions? Don't you think your god is wise and just?Don't you rejoice in his wisdom? Do you not believe that he has ordained everything, and that he knew who would be saved and not from the beginning of time?

Rejoice that your god created you to be saved, and billions of individuals shall burn in eternal torture forever, for the righteous are the children of God and the sinners are of the evil one.

Please understand this: If we don't believe your book, there is nothing in your book that can convince us that your faith is right for us. Most of us respect your choice of faith, please do the same for us. Y!A is designed to be a pluralistic community, and is not about preaching and proselytizing. I'm fairly sure that the only groups that I've seen trying to convert or dissuade are the Christians and Atheists. I'm fairly sure that most of the Atheists I've met do so as a reaction to the pressure they feel from Christians.

Why not teach by example? Why not live the life you are meant to, and "always be ready to give an answer for the hope that lies within you?" Jesus, from what I recall of what I've read, spoke in temples, or on hillsides and such. In the temples, he was discussing matters of faith. He went to open areas, and people came to listen to him. He didn't intrude in private places and start preaching.

Just because a book says something that some people think is profound doesn't make it really true. I, and many like me, have studied scripture inside out, reviewed all the evidence, and have found that, even though there are some nice things said, some worthy advice for living life, not everything in the Bible is accurate or true. Skeptics like myself have found that there are great gaps in the logic presented by those who claim that everything in the Bible happened just the way the Bible says. There is some history in the Bible, but it is also history that is distorted to suit those who were writing the scripture to suit a specific purpose.

Thank you for your concern.

Have a real grateful day.

Ok who died and made you God? First of all you got tickets on yourself if you think God wants you to do his job for him. Second I resent twerps like yourself thinking that ALL atheists have NEVER read the Bible ,Koran or any other religious work and are ill educated to boot. I have met more ill educated people of religion (please note- I didn't just say Christian or any specific group). So wake up and smell the roses dude God wants you to read your bible and follow the 10 commandments and work on being the BEST PERSON YOU can be. Let him worry about everyone else because YOU are responsible for YOU and no one else come judgement day. There is a reason it says "people without sin should cast the first stone"(FYI that means NO one is without sin ok). BTW I am an atheist and a good and decent person,I have read the bible among other works have you?

first of all i might use the King James version of the Bible. Others won't have a translation it fairly is unavoidably appropriate and would cloud the meanings. IMO. I accept as true with the countless solutions that those issues have been written in a time that become diverse and the verses mirror the regulations of those cases. there may well be motives that have been proper then which at the instant are not proper right this moment. Isaiah is prophecy. He tells of the flaws which will ensue if we at the instant are not righteous. Falling by way of the "sword" or maybe if weapons a central authority would have is fairly plausible. the countless the verses that talk approximately stoning and burning do no longer make experience to us right this moment. i do no longer think of we unavoidably understand context or maybe meaning of what those verses meant on the time. one factor is for specific and that's that Christ gave a clean commandment. the hot commandment become to love one yet another. Unbelievably, this become no longer a commandment previous to Christ. i won't be able to fathom that the international mandatory to learn how to love one yet another, yet while i seem around right this moment, some human beings nonetheless ought to examine that lesson. i think of information the previous testomony demands a brilliant form of learn and learn how to appreciate greater thoroughly, however the overarching subject concerns of kindness, friendship and repair at the instant are not dwindled by way of some verses which at the instant are not making experience right this moment. i think of it is telling that each and every person we ought to do is think of decrease back approximately 80 years to verify mass homicide by way of the Nazis on a international scale, blacks have been segregated, women could no longer vote! those activities have been virtually in our lifetimes, even once you will possibly think of humanity might have discovered better. Christian or Atheist. None persons are suitable yet i think our Father in Heaven famous new commandments to us as quickly as we as a persons are arranged to stay by way of them.

I have read it many many times. i went to a private christian school and believed for many many years. When I got older I started to study it more and more and the more I did the less I believed. I was even studying to be a pastor at one point that is when i realized it is not the word of god but the word of men.

Through all my years of FAITH...I have never seen anything amazing and unexplainable.

What is funny is that Christian always quote the bible to none believers as if it where true. Those people you are quoting that to don't believe it to be the written word of god. They believe it to be the written word of man; used to control people throughout the ages with guilt and fear.

God of your bible is a nut. your bible basically says believe in me or burn in hell. God then hids and says...ok now Im hiding and you need to believe still. Whenever things are bad just have faith. Whenever things are note fair or not in accordance with the bible 'God works in mysterious ways'.

You are being manipulated into this with fear. That is not a loving god.

What makes you think that by reading it, it is the best for us? Reading bible scripture just pushes people away even more. Most of us atheists were once religious until we realized the truth. You go on and keep reading your bible, but I am never going to read it again, I know too much of that crap by heart already.

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." (Matthew 10:34)

Why? The bible is a big book of ancient myths and legends. I can find as much if not more, nice moral parables in any book of fairy tales. Try reading Snow White for a morality tale, or Hansel & Gretel.

Ugh, you people make me sick with your self righteous bleating.

Fine, fine, going to hell, I get it. Like a big jukebox full of broken records, y'all are.

You ask if I think the world would get along better if we all had one agreement on God's existence. I answer, probably, but let's agree on something that's actually true.

My gullible friend, just because the Bible says it is true does not make it so.

Actually there is significant evidence that proves it is not.. But that would require a willingness to examine it, and some critical thinking.

You don't even have a clue to how imprisoned you are by your beliefs do you? It is a pity, and I feel sad for you. I feel more sad for the rest of humanity that continues to dwell in this delusion we call Christianity.

And this is supposed to "fix a lack of faith"? Only a Christian would think so.

BTW, "atheists" is the plural of "atheist"; "atheist's" is the possessive, in other words, something that belongs to an atheist.
