The film is a product of it's time that reflects the writer and directors view of things from a late 60's perspective. If a new musical were created on life of Jesus today, would it be a rapper musical?

It's been my favorite movie since I saw it in '74 at the age of 9. A person in this forum was good enough to send me his copy, and I've watched it a dozen times in the past few months. My youngest son loves it also.

The same friend also sent me the soundtrack, which I listen to daily.

Yeah, it's a real cool musical--one of the best. Unfortunately, I've never had the opportunity to see it on stage.

What a show! How about the Crucifixion scene with the guitars ripping and the lash countdown and how about the 'Why have you forsaken me' when he climbs the mountain, with areal cool soundtrack ,with Jesus shrieking and boy he hits the high notes ,and then he comes back man and hes real funky.

As a christian I was offended by it. Now as a atheist, I look at it as a goofy example of the worst the 60's had to offer us.

Yes, it is. I saw it in the early 1970's as a girl, when they were putting on live performances.

I hate to be a bossy Betty, but maybe this would have been a more appropriate question in the arts & entertainment section.
