My wife sometimes accuses me of being too happy & care-free. Obviously we have responsibilities and worries in this life......but I have chosen not to have stress even in life's most difficult situations......because I know that I know that the Lord will provide for us somehow.

My question is this:
Is it ok to have that "hakuna matata" attitude as a Christian?

For those of you who don't know what that means....it's from the Disney movie "The Lion King"......and I think it means, "No cares....no worries"

We have the assurance of heaven in our future as believers. So anything this life can throw at us is nothing compared to the glory that's coming. So should we worry? Or should we be like Pumba and Timon sometimes? Just a thought.........

Philippians says to Rejoice in the Lord always (not just when things are going well).....farther down in the same chapter Paul says be anxious for NOTHING. But Everything in Prayer and Petition.

We are not to worry...it's hard but if we're worried we haven't left it in the Lord's hands. He wants us to have life and have it more abundantly and rejoicing in Him helps us get there.

Well, there shall come that time when 'every eye shall see Him' (Rev. 1:7), and that all those gathered together at Armageddon shall 'make war' [i.e. turn their weapons] against Him ...' (Rev. 19:19, but see Vv 11-21), despite the fact that they can all clearly see, and recognise, Him at that point. It does them no good that they recognise Him, for they are completely caught up in their selfish, arrogant lifestyle, doing what was right in their own sight, rather than God's. That this is a future event is clear, despite the attempt of the preterists to say this occurred in AD 70, or in AD 125 (under Hadrian); parallel passages, e.g. Zechariah chapter 12, and especially Matt chapter 24 (Matt. 24:21, spoken by Jesus Himself, says "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be." If this referred to either AD 70 or to AD 125, then Jesus would be wrong, and therefore a false prophet (which is impossible), as the Holocaust eclipsed BOTH those dates COMBINED! Yet STILL we see Jesus say it will be the worst disaster ever to befall the Jewish people; that's right, the God who knew EVERY event that would befall His chosen people, knew that even the Holocaust would pale in comparison to the destruction of 2/3 of all Jews alive on earth at that point (see Zech. 13:8). See also the fact that Ezekiel chapters 36 - 39, which is about the re-gathering of 'the whole house of Israel' (37:11: whereas the Church -- the saved Jews and Gentiles -- are the COMMONWEALTH of Israel (Eph. 2:12; Rom. 11 verses 1, 2, 11, 12, 17-20, 25, 26)) from the four corners [i.e. Cardinal compass points] of the world (Is. 43:3-7), and that Israel is the ONLY nation to be spared AS a nation (Jer. 30:11; 46:28) shall be in 'the Latter [i.e. End] Days' (Ezek. 38:16, referring to the invasion led by Gog of Magog, with an Alliance of virtually the whole of what today is the Moslem world. This in itself is a remarkable prophecy, as these nations named were never allied together against the Israelites in Israel's past; indeed many were at one another's throats at this time, divided as they were between Rome in the West and Persia in the East). So, in short, the answer is; No actual (i.e. physical) manifestation of Jesus would bring people to faith in Him, UNLESS they already were pre-disposed, of their own free-will after seeing the evidence written in the Bible or revealed to them by Christians, would bring people to faith in Christ. This is why He waits until the very last moment (matt. 24:22; 2 Pet. 3:9) before returning, so ALL alive at that point would have the chance to repent and turn to Christ for salvation. May God bless all who sincerely seek the truth about Him.

Interesting question. I choose not to worry because it's a waste of energy and a useless waste of time. There is no sense worrying about something you cannot control. It doesn't mean I don't have any worries. It only means that I choose not to focus on them...let the outcome come as it may.

Your being a christian, I can see your point and would think your method of approaching life's problems should be the rule rather than the exception. If you have your life in god's hands, you shouldn't have a care or worry. As I'm not a christian, I can't go that route, but I choose to not worry just the same.

you live your life by someone elses philosophy and don't know what it really means...

thanks...

you couldn't have proven the concept of Christianity any better...

and for your question, happily going through life like a Plinko chip you are removing any responsibility for actual thinking or decision making. its either 'god will take care of it' or if something doesn't work out 'It must have been gods will'. removing all responsibility for though and action...

'Hakuna matata is a Swahili phrase that is literally translated as "There are no worries here". It is sometimes translated as "no worries", although is more commonly used similarly to the English phrase "no problem".' it was coined in the 1980 by a Swedish cartoonist Rune Andréasson.

and in the area of Africa that is the native home of the Swahili people they are all muslim...

you are using a philosophy that is muslim, first used by a controversial Swedish cartoonist and had no clue other than a kids movie...

nice research...

EDIT

first no one, especially ME ever said anything about being friends...

second it sounds like you are doing all the providing, not god...

last just because I don't believe in the loving, vengeance killing, child sacrificing, god doesn't mean that i have problems. delusion, that's your issue along with denial and your childlike mentality that someone else will make everything alright...

I am not much for basing life principles on movies, but Phil 4:6 does tell us not to worry about anything.

Phil 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

However, a caution. If your wife is upset over something it would not be wwise to be too flippant around her. The Bible says we weep with those who weep. You need to feel her pain too.

1 Peter 5:6-8
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:
Casting all your care upon Him; for He cares for you.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.

Choosing not to have stress will give you many extra years of life. Jesus told us not to worry and when we worry it shows a lack of trust in God.

Perfect love casts out all fear - fear has torment. Fear and worry are the same thing. How many times does the Lord say "do not fear?"

Before I tell you that what you are doing is in total agreement with the Lord as far as I can tell from reading God's word, who pays the bills in the household? And do you have this attitude while paying the bills?

If you don't pay the bills and they are her responsibility, try paying the bills and then you can honestly tell her that your attitude is in line with God's word.

If you pay the bills already and you have this attitude, you are truly a godly man and a blessed man. Yes, Christians should have your attitude. In all things, we trust the Lord.

well, i subscribe to a similar philosophy. when things get tough, i try to remember that the goddess will provide. and she always comes through.

there is no sense in stressing over the things you cannot change, no matter what faith you are. as an example, my mom called me this morning and was upset because some pranksters removed all the tops of her outdoor garden lamps last night some time. they put them on her bench. she was angry. i said "mom, just have yourself a nice chuckle and put them back on" (at least they left the lids where she could find them) so my mom said she would try to see it in a different light and get on with her day.

now, biblically speaking, would it not be against god to put undue stress upon yourself, because stress is proven to cause illness and illness can in effect cause death. therefore wouldn't extra stress be a form of slow suicide, which is definitely not god's plan for you????

food for thought LOL

Hello Brother Primo! I agree that we all tend to live under constant stress. We worry, worry, worry, when we should trust, trust, and trust in him.

I think that we need to be happier and realize that everthing is in God's hand. He loves us. He wants us to be happy. He wants us to live the abundant life. 3 john 2.

Trials will come to all of us at some point in our life but know that God cares and we can lay all our burdens at his feet.

The songwriter says, "Trust and obey, for there is no other way, than to be happy in Jesus, only trust and obey."

Have faith dear friends in God.

As a Christian, it is good not to worry. To always trust in the Lord. As a human being we are sometimes weak when something so tragic goes wrong in our lives. That is why we have a friend in Jesus. When we hurt, when our hearts are broken, any need..... we can take it to Him. We do not have to pretend to be super human that is never touched with life's problems. I am weak but He is strong. Jesus wants us to include Him in every detail of our lives.

Heaven is sure for the Christian. There will be problems from here to there. I am glad that Jesus is there to see me all the way Home.

Many people wish they were where you are. Its awesome to see such faith in the Lord. Doesn't mean we go and test the Lord in our circumstances, but we can trust in God. Doesn't mean we become lazy either, but Its great to see someone with a great attitude towards God and trust......

Jesus tells us in Matthew not to worry about lifes problems, but to trust in Him.....

Matthew 6:25-34
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]?
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
