I was ready to rip into the planitiff until I read the article. It seems like he's making a point on the frivolity of lawsuits that have plagued Nebraska lately. I wish him luck but I'm afraid for him trying to pull a stunt like this in the middle of the Bible Belt.
Personally, I don't think that god stands a chance in court... The only flaw I can think of is... well...
... who's gonna serve God the subpeona?

I think Ernie Chambers has some very valid points. And the fact of the matter is this,if this case actually is allowed to proceed God will lose.
He will of course fail to show up,which could lead to the Judge simply deciding in the Plaintiffs favor,or he can be tried in absentia. If tried in Absentia then the evidence at hand will have to stand as the Defendants(God's) testimony. These could include The Bible,The Quran, etc. And all of these books would be very prejudicial to the defence, since they all support the Senators claims.
My question is,why is God too cowardly to appear and stand in his own defense?

It's ridiculous for believers to raise money to defend God. If God were not represented well in court, what will the senator win?
Satan is the author of all sin, all suffering, all anger and malace. When anyone gives in to these things, they are working for Satan. It's especially hard to swallow when people do evil in the name of God... Satan tells 99% truth, and 1% lies. The devil, as they say is in the details. Example: in the garden of Eden, Satan told Eve that she would be as smart as God if she ate the fruit. He said she would not die. Well, he was right, she didn't die the day she ate the fruit, and it did open her eyes to knowledge she had not been able to receive before. Sheesh they were naked and didn't even notice before!
But it is necessary that there be opposition in all things. God allows Satan to do his works to allow us to grow. Yes it means suffering for many, and sadness, etc. It also provides opportunities for average people to come in and do good works - to be our best selves. Also, note that Adam and Eve did not have children until AFTER they ate the fruit. That was some pretty important information they gleaned after they ate the fruit, or the human race would have died off with Adam and Eve. God uses even Satan's evil works for our benefit. See the story of Joseph in the bible for a good illustration.
When people take small parts of the bible (Satan can also quote scripture, by the way) out of context and then work against the spirit of God's word, they are working for Satan. The meaning of Christ's ministry was to tell people to love each other. Forgive each other because you are not perfect. Pray often and repent for things you do wrong. Try to make amends to those you hurt. Anything contrary to this is Satan twisting God's message.

Hmmm.... According to U.S. law, God is a criminal. But it's not the law of the United States that should be reconciled here. I wonder what would happen if believers rose up to defend Him. And who would be responsible? I would gladly defend the Almighty in court. Trouble is, legally speaking God may be responsible for damages.

Oh, don't worry. The God of Abraham will strike that old senator down. He should be careful crossing the street or stepping outside in a thunderstorm.

It won't go to court. It is just a filed lawsuit it means nothing. Also good luck hiring a devout attorney.

Sounds like a bad Billy Connolly movie to me. It's called "The Man who sued God".

This man stated that he thinks there are many stupid lawsuits that are being ignored. So he filed this lawsuit against God to bring attention to stupid lawsuits. He isn't doing this to actually sue God. Read more about it before you make remarks against our Creator.
God created man. God can destroy man. Yet more men are destroying God instead of loving HIm for their being.

Problem is, he's got the wrong defendant. God never did squat, he doesn't exist. Ernie should be suing the churches and their congregations....
