I am a Christian and I see a lot of generalizing and wrong presumptions made about us like that we think science is evil and of the devil. lol That's funny. But mostly I'm talking about the Muslims. Why do so many of us Americans think that they are all terrorists? Most Muslims denounce the extremists. Yes it is written in their Quran to kill infidels but I was told that that was only meant for people of the distant past. And we ourselves have similar scriptures in our bible where God commanded the Israelites to destroy the cities of non-believers which were also only meant for the people of that time. I'm not saying I agree with the Muslim religion but I am just saying that it must be hard for Muslims living in our country to be hated for something they didn't do or even agree with.

stoppdemadness2003..thanx for making a point ..so here is the problem.......people follow media blindly and they "never" meet a muslim to know what their religion is and who they are actualy.most of the hatred and generalization come from the people who do not understand islam or the muslims...and here the problem is "media" ..for some political reasons like invasions of some country ask for a bad picture of muslims and thats what media is doing..muslims are projected in the way as if they deserve to be treated harshly and badly ..people feel hatred for them just becuase media shows them so...if in a country muslims are beating their wives......the same culture would show that even christains, hindus and rest are also doing the same..becuase it is no where in islam that woman should be treated that way its juts a flaw of some culture ....but you will see media would just pick "the muslim" to show the world that see "islam is evil, Muslims are evil"..i don't blame the people...even if i had been fed that way..i would have gone mad by this time !but there are still some people like you who do search for the truth..one other problem is as some people say muslims don't denounce terrorism.....the fact is that muslism do and are doing..there are heavy speakings and walks agaisnt muslim terrorism by muslims (sorry missing those links this time as am not on my own PC) but media would never show that side of muslim to the world....! actualy this is all a matter of politics the way i could judge this all scenario ! But anywyas..i am hopeful that a time will come where people would understand islam and muslims that they are not terrorist and only some percentage of idiots does not make them evil.the same percentage which exist in every community !

May peace be with you !

I am a Christian, and my husband died last year. Of his many friends, a few fell away when they realized I was not interested in them as a prospect. Two have checked on me regularly, with no unwanted advances. One is a Christian brother who lives out of the area, but calls every few weeks to see how I am, and ask if I need anything. The other man is a Muslim, who lives in town and about every two or three weeks he well bring dinner from his restaurant for my whole family. He rarely stays long, and always asks if I need anything. That is my personal experience, but I am tainted by what the terrorists threaten on news releases. Bin Laden just demanded that America convert to Muslim to avoid disaster.

the reasons for that are numerous and people can generalise for various reasons.

Firstly, what proportion of America is muslim? I'm not talking in absolute terms, but in percentage wise, they are a minority (i'm from australia where muslims make up 1.5%)

Even though muslims in Australia are small in number, sometimes, they make it onto the front page of the papers on several days in a row -even for things that non muslims did (recently an artist painted the virgin mary in a burqa and muslims were blamed for that!!)

How many people of a non muslim background have muslim friends? Or even non - caucasion friends?

Not all Terrorists are muslim- check the CIA factbook- who have they labelled the single most dangerous entity in terms of terrorism? (its not al-qaeda- it was FARC i think),

Not all human beings are terrrorists,

but all terrorists are humans

Australia does not have as good an Australia-islam relationship as the US, in the USA, there were migration policies which translated to some towns with only muslim doctors for example.

A geographer at a university here in NSW found that if people live with muslims, they are more likely to see muslims in better light. So at a campus in Sydney, we're trying to build a college for muslims/non muslim student residence and use it as a model for community building

but the prob is that we need 16 million in like 5 years. its a very good cause, but we need money,

if you'd like to offer suggestions on how you can help, or how we can get help, drop me an email!! thanks!

99% of people in America with turbans are Sikh, and the answer to your question is NO, not at all. Im a turbaned Sikh and have been "randomly selected" many times, my whole family has on the belief that we are dangerous. What about the serial killers, the shoe bomber, all the other bombers that werent brown or turbaned? Media is wrong for what they are doing. Also, a study was done by a white man. He took a gun to various airports, and made it through the detectors of many... while Muslims and Sikhs were being checked... kind of ironic

Unlike you my friend, most of us see nothing less from the Muslims. Most of us have never met a Muslim that we know of in person here in the USA and only know of them from what we see on tv and in the media. So far, it doesn't look too good for them because it seems as though anywhere there are Muslims in this world, there is war and terror, Females being abused and even having their genitals mutalated. Women being killed or beaten for showing their skin or hair. Maybe you should climb down off your high horse and show us where you have seen anything different.

Kayne, the True God did fulfill the law that did kill us.
The Allah of Islam did not demand death for infidels for that specific time but even in the end of the world he has his Muslims killing Jews. I agree not all Muslims believe in this violence but the religion itself is violent. The only guarantee of salvation is killing for Allah. Allah lleads and misleads who he chooses and weighs sin as if some sins are better than others he makes it impossible for a Muslim to be sure of his salvation unless he is a terrorist. This is not generalizing but from reading the Qu'ran and Hadiths.
As a Christian we should not hate but definitely should share the truth with all who can hear it.

Sahih Book 41 , # 6985
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews

The Qur'an does say that "kill the disbelievers" but the context is WAR. They were being attacked by the Arab pagans and what you expect GOD to tell them in that situation. "Sit down and drink coffee while they butcher you"??? Islam strictly forbids the killing of civilians and innocent people be they believers or disbelievers.

Ignorance. And the media of course. All most people in America see of the followers of the Islamic faith is what they see on TV. And what they see are the extremists.

Go back in time a few hundred years and see how it was the Christians terrorizing the non christian world.

Extremists are not the norm. That is why they are called extremists. Unfortunately, people tend to flock towards the radicals not because they believe in them, but out of fear and a misperception of accomplishment.

CONTEXT
The verses in the Koran were written & directed to the Prophet Muhammad (s). At the time, Muhammad was in a war against the people of the Quraish Tribe, who were persecuting Muslims & torturing the early Muslims.
Muhammad refused to retaliate, but Allah told him that he could retaliate & kill them if need be, because they were causing harm to his people, & his messenger.
