why would God have him build it from gapherwood and pitch. Why would he not have him build it with something more technologicly advanced, since God is all knowing and is omni present. Would God not know to send better technological knowlwedge to Noah? They did at the time use smelters for armor and would make sense that it would have been possible to make it from something that would have lasted to this day giving proof to the story of Noah. Yes I know that some claim it is on Mount Ararat but several have climbed the mountain and we do have satelite technology that would show this in detail if we were to look for it.

Because apparently god needs his people to have faith that such things existed, having proof would undermine that faith.

What he was instructed to build the ark from was resources that were readily available to him. They may have had smelters, but they wouldn't have worked for free. As Noah was supposed to be the last righteous guy around, it's not surprising that he was instructed to build the ark in a manner that required him to have very little to no contact with others.

You're assuming that the story of Noah is actually true though. It is not the only story of a flood from that region, where a single righteous individual is told by a deity how to avoid drowning with the rest. The Sumerians had a story similar to Noah's. The "survivor" was named Ziusudra.

With Abraham having come out of Ur, a Sumerian city, I've often wondered how much of an influence the Sumerian beliefs had upon the formation of the early Judaic religion. Much of Genesis mirrors their myths.

Not if it were buried underneath the ice pack or broken up after a few thousand years, dummyhead. Strangely enough, vessel designers have shown that the dimensions of the Ark as given in the Bible would be perfect for an diluge lifted vessel needing no shoring because of its box shape (not a boat) and would have floated and been kept cool because most of the contents would have been submerged leaving only the upper deck above surface where there were plenty of vents built along the hull. Exactly the right hieght, length and width were given to translate to a heavy sea going vessel with a door on the side. I hope one day they do find it so peeps can shut up about it. The answer to your question is in Judges 1:19. "And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron. "

You have to remember that the Old Testament was written by a Bronze Age Bedouins and their god was someone who made the world, yet couldn't understand the simple concept of smelting and forging iron.

Considering this, I have to tell you in all honesty, that the idea of covering a wooden boat with pitch was pretty advanced technology for God at the time.

seems to me that their Gopher wood and pitch ark did the job. Why do more than was needed. Just like Jesus died on the cross and you need to add nothing to it. Don't add to salvation by making it harder than it is. God chose a simple solution to save Noah and a simple solution (trusting Christ without any works). God made it easy to get saved in the ark and in Jesus.

Are you serious? Why would they need armor, it wasn't a warship? Why would it need to last till today it was only needed for a year? I don't think that God cares whether you believe that or not it still is true. What God wants from you is not that you believe those things but that you believe in Him. If you believed in Him he would have no trouble believing in Noah's ark.

Why is technology better? Remember, an amateur built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic.

Porky,
Gopherwood was readily available and Noah was able to use it without any special help. He and HIS son's could build the ark without additional assistance. The ark was only needed for their use and was not necessary to last 2000 years (DUH). It may be in the mountains of Arrat. There have been a number of people who have claimed to have seen it there. The mountains (there) are nearly unable to be seen year-round. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,

Then Noah would have depended upon the technology, and not him. It wasn't the gopherwood, that keep them afloat it was the strong hand of the Lord.
