I've never heard of Vitnam, so if the camera says it was made there, I'd be afraid it was a fake...
Now Vietnam, that's a completely different story....

I'd say there's a good possibility its a fake. Even if it isn't, however, its still not a bargain. Why? Its called the "gray market". Often a camera will cost less in a country like Vietnam than in the USA. So importers buy them cheaper there, bring them to the USA, and sell them cheaper. What they fail to tell the consumer is that the camera does not have a USA warranty. Its warranty is only good where it was sold - in this case, Vietnam.

The FE-230 was released in American and Japan, so if it says it was made in Vietnam it probably was, the Olympus camera sold here are under the parent company Olympus Japan. None of the cameras are made here. Olympus American is a child company.
