I don't think so. The computers in a way are helping spread ideas and thoughts and "free speech" to further destinations than ever before.

...it's definitely a different kind of freedom than when those Great Leaders founded and built this country.

We, as the new up-and-coming generations, have to be careful with what we DO with those computers. We have to be conscious of what kind of a country we are growing into.

I think the communication possibilities with computers is amazing. Being able to blog basically whatever you want and/or have your own website with BASICALLY anything you want, and being able to share that with not only your city, state, or country, but the entire WORLD is great.

There may be rules and regulations and things that we're "not supposed to talk about" but overall, I think computers are giving us more freedom than we had before. We just have to use them to our advantage and make sure we don't get carried away.

well uh not really.....we are a fast developing country. For a country developing at a pace like ours, it becomes a need for us to adopt and adapt to the fast developed world. Computers are a link to development and growth in all sectors of an economy. Today it would be difficult to imagine life without mobile phones, credit cards, email, internet in general, railway reservation, banking, and numerous utilities without a computer. Computers have practically eliminated the human interface from certain sheres where it was not even necessary ....like railway ticketing. What a waste of time to stand 2 hours in a queue for getting a railway ticket or depositing a bill only to find the counter close on your face at lunch time!!! Same goes for the clerk sitting at the window as well, if the clerk spends five minutes to handle one customer, a computer actually handles 5 customers in the same time period. So computers have made life easier and definitely and even improved the corruption situation to an extent due to elimination of the human interface. Similarly computers have also taken over major tasks of precision and other technical jobs, where they work with greater speeds and more accuracy than a human being. So the energy of a human, his intellect and abilities can actually be put to better use than doing mundane Jobs as I mentioned earlier. This whole yahoo community and your participation would not have been possible without a computer.

However on the downside computers have also made life sedentary, unhealthy and overall lethargic. Widely available information on the internet, and a feeling of anonymity has made cyber crime rampant. With strict vigilance, self discipline and control, computers can be used advantageously and negative effects can be avoided.
