In Leviticus 20:13, it says a gay man should die if he is caught in a homosexual act.
BUT, it also prescribes the death penalty to all sin, which is what atheists REFUSE to acknowledge.
We all deserve death, but God was so loving that he decided to send his only son so that our sins could be washed away if we believed in him.
God is perfect and even though not everything that is done may seem to make sense to us now, it WILL be revealed to Christians when Jesus returns.
Christians do not follow the Old Testament. I do believe the death penalties were fair then but they are not now because it was a different time. You have to remember that Moses was dealing with slaves and they were ignorant so they had to have extreme consequences.
Everything bad you hear about God's word is nothing but verses taken out of context.
Agree?

"You have to remember that Moses was dealing with slaves and they were ignorant so they had to have extreme consequences."
What? They were no more ignorant than anyone else alive in that day. Just because they happened to be slaves doesn't mean they like animals and needed harsh punishments.
Why atheists attack the Bible for saying gays should die is probably because Christians claim not to follow the Old Testament, yet frequently refer to this line in the Bible. Inconsistencies weaken an arguement, so atheists are quick to jump on that.

I think you are confused. Most people are criticizing the way fundamentalist Christians interpret the bible, not the Bible itself. I am quite certain you mean well, but when you start pronouncing death sentences to real people, someone is likely to be offended. Many fatwas are the same kinds of punishments issued by fundamentalists, and the holy men who issue them are probably more sincere in their faith than you are. And if you use verses out of context to defend your faith, you can't really criticize anyone else for doing the same thing.

the main important clarification why Atheists attack the bible for saying gays could die, is with the help of the fact a brilliant form of Christians nonetheless do beleive this regulation to be basically. basically the main desperate Athiest will ever condem the Christian bible pondering the incontrovertible fact that it approves stoning adulterers by way of fact modern-day-day Christians are not companies to polishing off such an act. although, a brilliant form of Christians nonetheless do condemn homosexuality as "abomination", yet ignore approximately lots of the different policies (such by way of fact the nutritional regulations, etc) created from date by way of the arrival of Jesus Christ. hence, the previous testomony perspectives on homosexuality are dragged up by way of Athiests by way of fact they have been dragged up first by way of modern-day-day Christians.

"The very concept of sin comes from the bible. Christianity offers to solve a problem of its own making! Would you be thankful to a person who cut you with a knife in order to sell you a bandage ?" — Dan Barker (ex-preacher), "Losing Faith in Faith".
"Christianity is the strangest religion ever set up, for it committed a murder upon Jesus in order to redeem mankind from the sin of eating an apple." — Thomas Paine.
Who decides the context? Is it subject to change - say every 100 years or so as the moral structure of society changes.

Don't you think it's funny that one of the 10 Commandments specifically says "Thou shalt not kill" but then the same book turns right around and says that people should die for committing "sins". Seems a bit contradictory, don't you think?
