going to the track

I've been to 2 Texas races, 1 Kansas race, and 3 Talladega races.. I love being there, and really there is no other feeling like it when all 43 cars start their engines and begin parading around the track before the start of the race. Any true fan that never has been, I would advise to GO asap and experience it first hand. Now.. With that said, After being to a handful of races I'd rather stay @ home and watch these days. It's crowded w/ SOOOO many people, everything is OVER-PRICED.. especially the beer.. and it's just too much. Unless you enjoy being packed in like sardines, dropping a couple hundred a day, and just being in constant chaos walking around then I'd suggest going to whatever tracks you like best once, and then move on to the next. I doubt I'd ever go back to Texas, or Kansas (and TX speedway is only a couple hours drive).. Now Dega is another story. That joint is worth re-visiting once every few years for sure.

Going to the track easily. I go to Indy every year and we make a weekend out of it. There is so much to do. The atmoshphere is unlike anything i have ever been apart of. You can feel the history of the track and the excitment of the fans. There is nothing like watching a wreck happen right infront of you and smelling the rubber of the tires as they screech to a halt. Especially now with ESPN's coverage that has ruined the 2nd half of the season. Going to the race wins hands down

I used to live about 40 min from the track in Fontana, and while there is no experience like being there live, after being there so many times you get the "been there done that" attitude, and start to focus on all the hassle of going to the race. The traffic for one, you live 40 minutes away, but it takes almost 2 hours to get in and out. In southern California we sit in traffic all week long, and when Sunday rolls around, you'd rather sit on the couch then having to go out and deal with the traffic again.

I've probably been to over 200 races, nothing beats being at the track.. But if I can't go to the track, if you have a bunch of Nascar buddies and friends, you can have a Nascar party at home...But nothing beats being at the track, I'm always there early, my uncle is a offical so he is there right when the haulers start coming in, its great.. I live out here in calif, no way would I fight the last minute race crowd getting into Fontana, so I get there early and stay late...

Nothing better than watching a race live. You can see so much more than what the networks show. And you can't meet people from all over the country at home. As the commercial says Go to a race, see things better.

Going to the track hands down

I like watching it on TV because you can watch the reviews of a wreck and actually see who caused what wreck. They give a lot of info on TV that will help understand the technical views of the sport also. You can see more at one time on TV like multiple pit stops at one time and who comes out first from the pits. If your driver goes a lap down because of some bull then you know the reason by watching the tube. Of course there is that feeling you get at the track...vroom !!

There is absolutely no better way to EXPERIENCE a race than to be at the track. Once you have been, you will never forget it. On tv, you only watch the race. At the track, you FEEL the race in every way.

For me it depends on the race. I love going to short track races like Bristol (and local!) because I can see the whole track and it was pretty easy to see what was going on, plus I got the atmosphere. But I've also been to the Brickyard and the Indy 500, and all I could see was what was going on in the turn where my seat was. That made it hard to follow the race itself. Maybe there are better seats at Indy than we had, but where I was seated I would have rather been at home. The atmosphere wasn't nearly enough to make up for basically missing the entire race.

The electric atmosphere of being at the race is much more than staying at home. The noise and the smells at the track are something TV can not duplicate. These help to make the event what it is.
At home on TV is good if you can not get to a track but it is missing the energy of being there.
So I would rather be at the track.
