I've been wanting to find out my blood type (I've begged all my doctors, but none of them will test me just for my curiosity, they say they have to have a reason to test me, like pregnancy or for transfusions). My dad had type A blood and my mother has type O. Both are definetely my biological parents. Is my blood type definetely one of the two, or can it be another type altogether? And is there a likely reason that one will be dominant over the other?

The ABO test shows that people have blood in one of four types: A, B, AB, or O. You will be either A or O. Does orange juice make you get thick phlegm in your throat if so you are probably O if not then you are probably A.

This is a strange test. If you are an A try drinking lemon water for breakfast and you will have less mucus for life.

There are three main versions of the ABO blood type genes, A, B, and O. We have two copies of most of our genes—one from mom and one from dad.

In the most general terms, if you are a biological child of a woman with blood type 0 and a man with blood type A, your blood type is either 0 or A.

However, blood type 0 can be misread and the person could have blood type A, AB or B.

If your blood type is AB or B, further genetic testing would need to be performed on your Mother to confirm she is actually blood type 0.

As far as what blood type you end up being, it can be equally determined by your Mother or your Father.

Depending upon your age, you should be able to find a physician who will determine your blood type. It is important to know your blood type in the event of an accident when you might need blood. While blood-type- specific transfers are preferred, blood type 0 can be given to a person with any blood type and there is no adverse reaction.

The only way to know your blood type is to get a blood test. You can't tell based on your parents' blood types, otherwise your doctor could have told you the answer without the testing.

Oh, and you can find out if you DONATE blood. And it's good for the planet.

ok...this is tricky, but your blood type will come from your grandparents actually, just like hair and eye color. ..just think of the kids that you know who have blond hair and blue eyes and both of their parents have brown hair and eyes.

so...if your grandparents all had type A blood, then you would have type A, (as your parents with both have type A blood) but if they all had different blood types, then it's up in the air as to what it could be. I am simplifying for better understanding.

One good way to find out what your blood type is ....donate blood. You will find out what your type is, and save a life in the process!!

Everyone does inherit their blood type from their parents not their grandparents. I believe that in your case you should have either type A or type O blood. If one of your parents had been AB, you could have inherited type A, type B, or type AB from that parent. It's a little tricky because unlike other genes I do not think that your grandparents factor other than what blood type they gave their parents. For more detailed info. check the AABB website. They should have something about it.

You should be type A. A blood cell can have these markers on them, the A type or the B type. If it doesn't have any markers, it's type O. To have the markers is dominant, to not have them is recessive. A person can be type A, Type B, Type AB ( has both markers), or Type O.
