When my son was born, he had Infantile Spasms. Usually there is a cause, but in a very small amount of babies there is none and it's just a freak occurence. Well, since they didn't know what caused it, they didn't know what medication to put him on. I prayed Surah Al Fateha over him endlessly and my entire family and friends prayed for him too, that he would be normal (and is, the little charmer!!!).
I am going to be raising my 2 year old nephew who will be transferred to me tomorrow. His mother is a Christian and has no problem with anything in my religion. I have my own two, an almost 4 year old and a 1 1/2 year old. My nephew, due to neglect and abuse, is in special programs and classes, including physical therapy, for problems he developed from being neglected. Would Surah Al Fatehah work on him as it did my son? Is there any other prayer that is as strong if not stronger than this? Thank you in advance for your kind and knowledgable answers that help this little boy.

Dear Daughter
Assalaamu Alaikum Warahmatullah
If it is a Physical Ailment then continue reciting Sura e Fatiha which is also known as Sura e Shifa, which you are already doing.
Further the following Duah is written in the famous book of supplications "Has'n Has'een" specially for children for the causes of ailments (beemaary), balaaiyyaat and affect of bad eye (nazar).I am using it since many years on children of my family and even on children of Non Muslims, who come to our Area Mosque in India to get treated through blowing Quranic Aayaats by Muslim Musalliyyeen (Namaazi).
Recite Durood e Shareef before and after.
Allahumma salle a'la syedina Muhammadin wa a'ala a'ali syedina Muhammadin wabarik wasallim.
Auoozu bi kalimatillahittammati min sharri kulli shaitaani'w wahaammatin'w wa min sharri kulli a'inil lammati.
Allahumma salle a'la syedina Muhammadin wa a'ala a'ali syedina Muhammadin wabarik wasallim.
Recite and Blow over the subject or blow over water or milk and feed.
I pray that your Your Children get well Inshallah Aameen.

Definately sis...
I have a prayer in Arabic that you can use, but I'm not sure if you know Arabic or not. I'll write it in English, and hopefully you'll be able to read it as it's writen.
"As'al Allah al-Kareem, Rab al'arshil al-Adtheem an Yashfeek"
Try saying it three times after reading the Fatihah and run your hands over his head gentely.
Don't forget that the best time to ask God is during the Sujood.
My prayers will be with him as well.
Peace.

Read any Sura with a firm belief. Mainly a firm belief and urging request with confidence in God will help more. For me I request in my own language depending on the problem and almost all the time find solution. And if I do not find then I believe that it is better for me.

AssalaamuAlaikum,
As far as he is not adult, he is surely a Muslim. You can pray for his health and success in life and after and nurture him.
Wassalaam
