a spiritual quality. A feeling of being connected to the nature and the Gods.
The feeling when you go out in the forest and you look at the trees and you know they are not just lumps of wood, but living creatures, maybe home to the land spirits, that they're part of the circle of life, just like we are.

I'm not religous so I'm not sure if I can answer this from my prespective.
My beliefs help me see the beauty in everything that is around me. Also that things happen for a reason. Until I came to understand this, for me at least, I had trouble understanding the whys.

it adds an ability to focus on something that i can relate to that represents things that are hard to visualize otherwise, and a sense that i'm going somewhere with my life.

If I was not a follower of Jesus Christ, first and foremost, salvation from sin would be missing. Joy, even in the midst of suffering would be missing, peace would be missing, friendship with the living God would be missing. I could go on and on- life would be missing too.
