It's not just you, i grew up and still live in a country where more than half the population is least moderately christian (celebrates christmas, easter, etc.) I still haven't fathomed the logic of the death for sins thing. Every time i try to work it out i get a different and more confusing answer.

Q: Why Do Christians Think That Jesus Died For Their Sins ?
===

Because of traditions that are based on the deceptions of Satan, which shortly overcame the world after the murder of Jesus and the destruction of his church in the meridian of time. Anybody in their right mind, who would actually take time to ponder what it really was that Jesus did, would not say Jesus died for anybody's SINS. He suffered so that man may repent and come unto him, and partake of his mercy.

God is no respecter of persons, and Jesus does not die for someone's sins anymore than he died for someone's righteous actions. The saying that Jesus "died for our sins" is Christian nonsense that doesn't capture the true meaning of the works of Jesus for mankind.

Jesus suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane, and bled from every pore, suffering for the REPENTANT, not the sinner! For if a man does not repent, his sins are still with him!

The correct thing to say, if anything, would be: "Jesus SUFFERED for the sins of the repentant." That suffering was in fulfillment of his role as our Redeemer, NOT as our Savior: He satisfied the demands of justice, and provided the means for mercy to be extended upon those who will repent and live his commandments, not to those who sin and will not repent.

Jesus DIED on the cross because that is where the Jews put him, not because dying that way had any ramifications. But it was necessary for him to die, in one way or another, because he had to fulfill his role as our Savior, and rise himself from the dead: Thus, breaking the bands of physical death for all things that will live and die, to bring about the resurrection of mankind, who will then be able to stand before God to be judged.

If you have any intelligence, you ought to see a lot of this kind of "overlooking" among Christians. The Light of Christ leads men and women who do, to ponder deeply over the meanings of this confusion, which festers among the sectarians, and long to find the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in its complete form. And it is available today among the Saints of God, found in the doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There you will find the fullness of the Gospel, not just bits and pieces that the sectarians are forever trying to put together through their incessant study of the Bible, ever-learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Because it's what the bible tells them. I think what they fail to realize is that the story has been told time and time again. Throughout history the same story has been told with most of the same details. Horus, Attis, Krishna, Dionysus, Mithra, Judah and Jesus. Many details of these stories are the same including born of a virgin, adorned by 3 kings, 12 disciples, betrayal, crucifixion and resurrection. This has baffled me for years. Once I realized that these stories are the personification of the story of the "sun" it all made sense to me. This is why it's the same story told over and over.

Why do they think it? Because it's what they've been told. I believed it once too. The difference was my refusal to understand some concepts and the failure of any church or bible school official to explain them to me. I'm glad I kept asking. I don't pretend to have a full understanding of the bible yet but I continue to study.

I'm not sure as humans that we have the ability to even imagine what God is. While I believe in God, I don't believe that man has yet to do God justice in the explanation.

I Think Jesus was a great human being & messenger of God but he did not die for anyones sins infact he wasnt even crucified.

So what christians are saying is they can commit murder but they will still go to heaven coz Jesus died for thier sins, that makes no sence at all.

I believe Yeshua (thats Jesus's real name) was sent up to heaven & he did not die , he will come down & embrace Islam.

because that is what has wrongly been taught by the church,
it is of course farsicle .
Jesus was a perfect man and magnificent prophet who was a channel to the creator and taught great truths of life.
however he was murdered by ignorant and scared bullies and died for what he believed in . and not for our sins . which because we are afforded free will are unknown to a large degree even in a life with certain set features , free will means anyone can alter their path at any time and thus sin,
we are each responsible for each and every action we make and should be fully concsoiuse of this undeniable fact .

Because he did.
Not just our sins, but the sins of everyone in the world.
Jesus is the Messiah. All the prophets of the Old Testament foretold of his coming, through Jesus we go back to the Father there is no other way, it can not be earned, you can not work for it, your salvation was paid for with the blood of Jesus, he sacrificed himself for you, me and everyone else, it is a free gift all you have to do is accept it.
Jesus is alive and well and sits at the right hand of God, God is trying to give everyone their chance to make the right choice, it cannot be forced, you have to choose of your own free will, either you are with God or you are against God, with God there is no other ways about it.

Christians KNOW that Jesus died for their sins because it is stated in the Bible, plain and simply. However, do not mistake that He died only for the sins of "christians." He died for the sins of everyone.

Because He did. We have 4 different accounts of his life & his death in the Bible by 4 different men who did not know of each other...Matthew, Mark, Luke & John. The accounts are almost word-for-word. In ANY court of law anywhere in the world the almost identical accounts of an event by 4 completely unrelated eye-witnesses would be accepted as compelling truth to any jury. I think it's very clear that's exactly WHY we have 4 accounts of the story. Hope this clears it up for you.
