i got a tattoo a few days back, and i haven't really touched it other then some anti bactirial stuff for a couple days and now some vitamin E creme with vitamin A & D.

a lot of ppl said it looks pretty healed, but im not so sure, im still not touching it much.

but i read online there will be scabs, but i dont have any. does EVERY Tattoo get scabbed? i have medium sized chinese charactors on my upper arm.

and also how long will it take to heal? i read someplace that a good tattoo can heal in as little as 4 days but some palces say as long as 8 weeks!

I own a tattoo and body piercing shop and I've seen more tattoos healing in the past 20 years than I need to. Not all tattoos scab over. I have 8 tattoos and only one of them got a couple of very small scabs on it. The trick is to get it to heal without scabbing. You will retain all your ink if it doesn't scab. A lot has to do with how you heal it out. I've found that an ointment called "Tattoo Goo" is some of the best stuff for healing out a tattoo. It's all natural and it has vitamin E which is a big plus. Most people are told to use things like A&D ointment (diper rash ointment) or Neosporin. These contain patrolium and that's the one thing on this Earth that is non poris and won't let your tattoo breath and air is your #1 healer. Forgive me, I tend to rattle on when I talk about these things.

Just make sure that you're not over applying anything to your tattoo. You want to keep it moist but you want it to be able to breathe. Some peoples tattoos don't scab as much as others do. Healing can take anywhere from a week to 8 weeks and maybe even longer for the really big detailed pieces. The less detail you have the shorter than healing time.

As A Tattoo Artist, - Most Will Scab, Some Will Just Dry And Flake Off, But If Your Keeping It Moistrised Then This May Not Happen.

Yeah Healing Time Varies Greatly... The 8 Weeks Is Usually The Much Bigger And Detailed Work...

Hope That Helps

The body naturally wants to send out fluids to dry and scab to start the healing process right away. With tattooing, the ideal situation is to keep the fluids from building up to form the scab. Many times just by location and movement scabbing will occur no matter what.

Good job - you seemed to have accomplished the ideal situation. Now all that will happen is the outer layer will peel off and it will look a little cloudy until the new outer layer (epidermis) is well healed.

Everyone is different with healing depending on health, age, after care, how much the tattoo was worked, and the location of the tattoo. Fully healed will be from two weeks to two months. Yours sounds like it will be on the low end.

The healing process is a mystery of the human body. No two people heal the same way. Depending on your body and the tattoo artist, people heal tattoos very differently.

If your artist has a heavy hand, or went over the same spot in the tattoo several times, it's more likely to have heavy scarring. However, if your tattoo artist is skilled and experienced, the scarring will most likely be minimal.

The length of healing also depends on these factors. My body heals itself very quickly, so a small tattoo on myself has healed in roughly a week, whereas a larger tattoo took a little while longer to heal - roughly 2 - 2.5 weeks.

yup, but don't scratch or pick at them or you might mess up the artwork.

Go to a tattoo place and get some Tattoo Goo (it cost about $6.00) that will help it heal real good & prevents fading!
