hey,,,susie...i've heard of it before....but it's not a LAW!!! that u can't bathe after eating. i heard from my mom that after having our meal it takes lot of things to digest it well but if u bathe immediately your body temperature reaches to an imbalanced state which hampers the digesting process. that's why people say so.

but i bathe after eating....LOL

No that is not true. It's an old wise tale. When I was growing up I lived with my grandmother and she would tell me not to bathe every day because it would make me sick. It's the same kind of old country type belief. Some people believe that you shouldn't eat before swimming but I've done it several times and never had a problem. I am not positive on that but I think it is a wise tale too. If you want to eat and then bathe go for it. I eat and then get in my hot tub all the time and nothings happened to me yet.

Digestion takes a lot of bllod flow and drains the body's capacity to do other things. Thats why you shouldn't go swimming for half an hour after eating a large meal. To a lesser extent, the blood flow to the skin to cool a body in a hot bath is diminished by digestion. Therefore it might not be a good idea to take a very hot bath after a very large meal

We "can" actually take a bath after eating. But the fact is whe SHOULD NOT take a bath after eating, since the blood moves away from our intesting and towards the skin, and the result is that the nutrients dont get absorbed in the blood. If you are taking a cold water bath, the blood moves towards the vital organs, and intestine is not a vital organ, so again you loose the nutrients. so you actually you should not take a bath after eating.

No, it is not true. There is a myth dont swim until 30 minutes after eating which is true but it is more like 5 minutes until it hits the stomach because you might get a cramp. Feel free to eat and bathe at the same time. LOL

Just who says that? You can bath and eat irrespective of each other. I do it all the time.

But you shouldn't swim after eating a large meal because you could cramp up and being in water makes that dangerous. But that rule really only applies to heavy swimming.

I don't know about bathing but it is said that you shouldn't go swimming right after eating because you could cramp up and drown. This, of course, is just a myth.

'cannot' is perhaps a bit over-doing it. of course you can bathe after eating; many people prefer not to (but mostly they mean SWIM, not bathe) because it will disturb their digestion. you see, after you eat your body is busy digesting ur food; if you do some kind of exercise, that will interrupt it. as far as bathing, i believe that the hot water might also have some kind of effect on your circulation/digestion; it doesn't hurt to wait about 30 minutes.

I have heard that you shouldn't swim after eating, but I've never heard anything about not bathing after eating. I've done it many times and have never gotten a belly ache!
