FOCUS on a VERY strict diet, and LOTS of cardio + ab exercises! Choose foods that are low in sugar, fat, and high in protein and fiber! Nutrition is 90% responsible for creating lean, noticeable abdominals! Your body fat percentage needs to be at 10%. Be sure to drink 8 glasses of water a day! A great resource for which foods to eat for getting a six-pack are shown on this site, along with other helpful information...See these two pages from this great stomach flattening site:
1.) List of fat-burning foods: http://www.flat-stomach-exercises.com/fat-burning-foods.html
2.) Eating habits: http://www.flat-stomach-exercises.com/eating-habits.html

Do cardio DAILY, and lots of it: An hour a day, 6-7 days a week...Try jogging, power walking, aerobics, Taebo/kickboxing, step aerobics, and/or stair climbing.
Do ab exercises that work out EACH part of the abs: the upper, lower, and side abs (obliques)...To see the best exercises for your abs, check out these two sites:

The 8pack you're going for is actually one long muscle, called the Rectus Abdominis, that extends from below your chest to your pelvis. To work your abs, you should do exercises to target all four muscles: the rectus abdominis, internal and external oblique and the transverse abdominis.
Second, doing a thousand sit ups will not help you get a '8-pack' if you have a layer of fat over your abdominal area. In order the see the muscles you must reduce your body fat.

abdominal training has no effect on fat stores in that area. the only way to see the entire abdominal wall with out flexing is to decrease your body fat down to single digits and that comes from a reduced calorie diet of whole foods.

great abs are made in the kitchen not in the gym...
