I was wondering is there any advantages of one over the other?

I'd say the morning. If you stimulate your body like that you'll have difficulty getting a good night's sleep afterward. of course if you work nights this probably wouldn't be an issue.

studies have shown that doing cardio in the morning increases the amount of fat burnt off compared to the afternoon, mainly due to the amount of carbs available to the body at different periods of the day.

likewise, doing weights in the afternoon has the benefit of a larger source of energy, however either can be done at either time during the day.
