You can't quite cold turky! Try taking your school Chorus (Choir) or get some private lessons with the Chorus, or Choir teacher. They can help you. I had the same problem. I went to the Choir teacher and I asked her to help me and now I sound like I have power in my throat and my stomach and in my voice but I don't sound bad. The other thing you may find out is that you're probubly singing out your nose. If you sing out your nose then you sound bad when you try to sing high. If you sing with the muscals your suposed to then you will sound better singing high. Oh and open your mouth longer. Don't open it wider. Open it longer so your chin is going down. There that good enough for ya. Try these and you will see results!

Honestly, there's no quick fix. It's going to take work. I personally highly recommend Singing Success by Brett Manning. He guarantees an increased vocal range, power, control, etc. It's fantastic stuff. I personally have the system and love it!!!

It's all about breath support. You need to learn to open your voice up and allow more air to flow to carry your voice. It's not as simple as opening it up like a can though. Your vocal chords are a muscle and you need to excercise it. It'll take time, but keep at it and every day your range will improve more and more.
