Right now I decided something.
I get on here a couple nights a week. Every night, I go mostly to sports, health family & relationships and then finish up my YA voyage right here at R&S. But when I enter, I can feel the hate before I even open the questions. And it's not just atheists, it's also Christians.
Before I continue let me say, I am a Methodist. I can tell some of you are judging because of that. Some say, "Good!" and others say, "Not another one..." But I say, can't we get along? It's true I'll admit, most of my best friends are Christian. That may just be coincidence.
But let me tell you, if I had to choose between some of the bigoted Christians and the Atheists in R&S, well, I would have to say that me and some atheists are going out for drinks Saturday.
So, I guess this isn't a question, but, let's stop fighting and start finding out other peoples opinion before we start killing each other. Because it's not until you know other's opinions that you truly know your own.

Most people get along just great until religion is mentioned. Here it is the only basis for the discussion. However, with the overwhelming number of Christian discussion sites on the internet, if a Christian wants to talk about the Bible with other Christians, why would they come here? The only reason they would come here is to get opinions from all faiths. Just because a person does not believe in Jesus does NOT make them an atheist.
This site has representatives from ALL world religions. Remember, world wide, Christianity is a minority. It is not atheist against Christian, it is all religions "against" each other here. "Against" not in a bad way, but people here need to understand, this is not a "Christian" site. If all the Christians left, then other religions would be debating each other. Try coming on at different times of the day or night. You will be able to tell the differences in the discussions by what time zone is represented.

It can be frustrating though, since this IS the religion and spirituality section, that when you ask an actual question about spirituality, faith, God, etc and you get back 90% answers from people who just say none of it exists.
I mean it's like asking a question about operating a certain aircraft in the aircraft section and being told that flight is impossible. It's just not helpful and is unique to this particular group. And sometimes it can be extremely annoying.

religious concept isn't an illustration of intelligence. God calls us yet in user-friendly terms some answer the call. i've got self assurance it has extra to do with your rearing. in case you come from a family individuals packed with God's love, the place miracles are known, you have an much less stressful time accepting the reality. in case you arise in a Godless abode, the place cynicism and disbelief are user-friendly, then it would stand to reason that atheism might result with out exterior interference. those are no longer absolutes. i've got self assurance that everyone who examines the data with out bias is commonly used with of that that is a designed universe. yet they do no longer know what to do with that information. in the event that they actually continued on the path to actuality it would bring about self transforming into much less significant and the deity assuming that function. it would additionally require ethical alignment that's uncomfortable. because of the fact of this we can study horoscopes and tarot playing cards with out social backlash; they require no ethical substitute.

I agree! I think intelligent, respectful debate is healthy and often beneficial. But name-calling and petty bickering is just pointless.

I'm buying! If there were more Christians like you, we'd be saying "What inquisition?" as we move ahead with stem cell research. :)

Well I get on here every once in awhile and all I see is people bashing Christians for pretty much everything then some people posing as Christians and being dumb so people will think badly as Christians. I have never once read a question bashing an atheist by someone who was sincerely a Christian.
