How do you know when God is doing his thing; helping you through a journey for example. and when the Devil is trying to break you down to the wrong path?

Thanks in advance!

Never blame any of your wrong choices on anybody but yourself.

And God does not tell you every single turn in life that you should steer to. Free will can only be possible through the exploration of trial and error. It's all part of the learning process of gaining knowledge and wisdom.

The only way humans can appreciate good things is to also experience bad things. Pleasure - Pain / Love - Hate / Light - Darkness / etc.... Diametric opposites define each other in this universe.

Confusion only comes from the Devil. A Christian knows the 'still small voice of God'.... he/she also knows the teachings of the Bible. The Holy Spirit of God will not lead you against those teachings. God also does not play tricks on you. The Devil (Satan) can and often will get you involved in spiritual warfare as you travel your journey, but all you have to do is 'Pull on the Power' of God and God will protect you and walk with you through the muck. He says, "I am with you always, even to the end." Trust God, He backs what He says.
Look at the Cross.

God will always lead you in the right direction, think about the outcome of what ever you are facing. If the devil has got you by the tail your outcome will not be moral. For example: If you are trying to decide if you should leave your husband for another man and everything you feel says do it...its the devil. Even if you don't love him anymore and he is mean its still the devil...why? because God hates divorce and he will guide you to repair it if you trust him. If your Husband is unresponsive....Keep praying for him. God does work miracles. If its too late and you are already out and don't know what to do just remember that adultry is a sin and until you are divorced you are sinning!!!! So if you MUST divorce do that first. God will never leave you nor forsake you just trust him and PRAY!

Depends on your denominational concepts. From a biblical standpoint, its all the same.

Isa 45:7 I form Light and create darkness, I make weal(well-being) and create woe(misery/sin), I am the Lord, who do all these things.

Deut 32:39 "See now that I myself am He! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand.

EXO 4:11 The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ?

Even in the Book of Job, the 'advesary' needed to ask permission from God before he even started to mess/test Job.

Even the concept of a 'wrong path' could be debated. Is there such a thing? Or are we just doing what we NEED to be doing? Even if its a 'wrong' path, why is it wrong? These create 'answers'/'truth's within a person, which then further defines their own reality and/or more skills a person has to work with IN their lives.

Ecclesiastes 3: A Time for Everything

Ecc 8:17 then I saw all that God has done. No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all his efforts to search it out, man cannot discover its meaning. Even if a wise man claims he knows, he cannot really comprehend it.

God is love. He knew when the Devil was cast down to the Earth what he would do. "Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabitants of earth for the Devil has been cast down to you." Jesus did his thing on earth and being baptized into his death and into his resurrection and faith is God's provision for his help. God will not interfere with man's free will to have faith in something else to provide for his needs. Being one with God through Jesus is how one knows if God is helping because God is answering his requests for help. Fear, depression, and problems that a person alone cannot solve are from the Devil.

You know what? After 56 years, 10 months, 2 weeks, and 5 days of living (to the hour), I have to say that sometimes it just darned hard to know for sure. Jesus said His sheep know His voice, and satan (whose name I refuse to capitalize)certainly has skills in mimicking His voice. I'm sure they were closely related before satan was cast out of heaven. Pray hard. Listen for all you're worth. Study the scripture. Do something different, or do nothing at all. Stay focused on God and keep asking for guidance, then be open to seeing and hearing the guidance when it comes.

Bro. Charles Stanley has a sermon where he talks about when you are not sure about something, just stop, and if it is something God really wants you to be doing he will open the door and you will know it is coming from him and not the devil, if we have to force things its probably not of the Lord.

Listen for the truth in the message...satan is a liar...if you know what God has to say about an issue (from studying the bible and talking to him), then it is much easier to spot something that contradicts that message. Having the Holy Spirit in you makes it even easier since he writes God's laws on your heart...in your heart, you know what is right and wrong but you have to listen.

Some of the devil's favorite tricks are to make you feel like you haven't been forgiven for a mistake you've already confessed to God..."you can't do this because of what you did back then". ...and to tell you that it's ok to do something the bible tells you not to do...."go ahead and have sex with him...you're planning to get married anyway", "go ahead and get your revenge on Susan, God doesn't mind if you handle the little vengances as long as you don't kill her", "it's ok to divorce your wife, God wants you to be happy", etc...

Which one is the all knowing, all powerful being, and which one is not?

Face it, anything the (alleged) devil does is sanctioned and allowed by the (alleged) god.

So it is God that is doing all of these things, helping you and trying to mislead you. Rather a schizophrenic deity.

So,
Either God suffers from multiple personality disorder.
Or God is not all knowing and all powerful.
Or God and the devil are figments of your imagination, used to explain the difference between your base desires and your social functions in your higher brain.

Or you can just say: "The Lord moves in mysterious ways.". Just sweep it under the carpet and not think about it.

One of the Bible's most comforting truths is that God wants to guide us. He loves us, and He knows what is best for us—and because of this, He wants to show us His will. The Bible says, "In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:6).

But you're right: Sometimes the devil also tries to guide us, and we have to be careful we don't follow him instead of God when we need to make a decision. How can you keep this from happening, and be sure God is guiding you? Let me suggest three steps:

First, make sure of your relationship with Jesus Christ. Have you confessed your sins to Him and asked Him to come into your life as your Lord and Savior? If you haven't done this, or if you are unsure of your salvation, turn by faith to Him and ask Him to come into your life today.

Then pray and ask God to guide you in this decision. Often, we want to tell God what we want Him to do—but ask Him to help you guard against this, and to seek His will instead of your own. We must be willing to do His will, whatever it is.

In addition, search His Word, the Bible, for guidance; God never guides us to do anything that is contrary to His Word. Seek also the advice of people who can help you—people who know God and have spiritual discernment. When we truly seek God's will in this way, He has promised to guide us.
