Take a look, Sweet Suzy. You're believing and spreading an urban myth.

Bad enough I have to hear endless conspiracy theories on:

JFK
Kurt Cobain
Halliburton

Please no more, I can't take it.

That's just silly. Everyone knows it was Einstein who recanted relativity on his deathbed, not Darwin and evolution. People need to quit getting these confused.

Here we go:

A woman known as "Lady Hope" (an evangelical Christian) claimed that Darwin recanted to her on his deathbed.
"The lies were exposed for what they were, first by his daughter Henrietta after they had been revived in 1922. ‘I was present at his deathbed,’ she wrote in the Christian for February 23, 1922. ‘Lady Hope was not present during his last illness, or any illness. I believe he never even saw her, but in any case she had no influence over him in any department of thought or belief. He never recanted any of his scientific views, either then or earlier. We think the story of his conversion was fabricated in the U.S.A. The whole story has no foundation whatever.’”

How'd I do?

It's an urban myth with no supporting evidence whatsoever.

Christians who propagate it should be very wary of bearing false witness.

In any case, I don't see why his theory of evolution is in conflict with a belief in a Creator God. Who's to say that evolution wasn't part of "God's plan" anyway? Who's to say that, at some point during our transition to a higher simian species, God didn't plug in the soul-spark and give us self-awareness and the capacity for spiritual development?

Unless you believe that the earth was created in 7 24-hour periods, 6000 years ago (which is patently absurd, given that the Aramaic word for "day" in Genesis simply translates to "a period of time"), then there are no logical problems accepting that both evolution AND the Creation story are valid.

Either way, it's rather meaningless, isn't it? If he did, it doesn't make his work any less valid. Some people lose control of their bowels on their deathbeds. Should we attribute some sort of profound meaning to that as well?
