You don't have to remember thousands of god's names and their purposes....it's just one God, easy to pray to for anything.

Monotheism, or the belief in one God, diametrically opposes idol worship. Jewish people only believe in one God, and not Jesus or the Holy Spirit, which make up the trinity, thus, they are said to be monotheistic. Idolatry doesn't make sense to me at all. It would be the same as worshipping a house or a tree. God is mostly spiritual. No one has seen or spoken to him since Biblical times, but many have a very strong faith in him as the creator of the world, of nature and of mankind. He also determines what happens to you in the afterlife. I guess you could say those things are advantages.

What are the advantages?

With monotheism, there is Only One God to worship, & therefore, no worry that you maybe neglecting any particular deities.

With monotheism, you may honour your God's Holy persons(ie:Saints, Prophets, etc). With polytheism, in addition to all the numerous deities, you also have to honour all their holy persons as well, making it even more difficult to remember.

Monotheism usually makes the person only observe one religion. Polytheism usually encourages the person to observe more than one religion, thus giving the person more practices to observe.

Most important of all, having God as your Father.

What are the disadvantages you ask?

Falling in love with someone from another religion. Should the 2 of you marry, you both have to decide which religion to raise the children in.

Being prejudicial of those belonging to other religions.

1) Only have to remember one Name.

2) Less number of feasts per year.

3) For clergy, two gods means double duty.

4) What if one of the two gods gets angry....it's like MMF cage fighting and you get to be the referee.

* helps you avoid facing difficult realities

* gives you a trumped-up justification for trying to control the whole world

* lets you preserve the status quo power structure

* allows you to behave in an inherently selfish way and still think you'll get some kind of eternal 'reward' for it

The only monotheism's are Judaism and Islam. Make sure you don't include Christianity. That holy trinity isn't fooling anyone.

Advantages to One God? U are only worshiping one God, you don't need to worry about offending another god by worshiping one God. You don't have to remember what sacrifice to bring to which god. You don't have to worry about where and when you worship. You don't have to worry about which god does what...( sun god, moon god, god of war, god of peace, god of fertility, etc.)

With One God you know he is all powerfull, he is perfect in every way.

I can't think of any disadvantages.....
other than u might get what you want...not what u need.
