Repentance is turning away from your sins and asking God to forgive you. For it to have any effect it must be genuine. i.e. those who go through life with the attitude 'it doesn't matter what I do, I can just repent on my death bed' are gonna get a shock. As they aren't genuinely sorry for the sins committed but sorry they now have to answer for them.
