When you ask many Christians about the laws in the New Testament against Divorce then they say they dont have to follow ANY laws since they have grace.

When you ask them about homosexuality they quote the Old Testament.

When you ask them about any law they dont like from the OT they say they are not bound by the laws of the Old Covenant.

Some say you have to follow the 10 commandments and others say they only have to follow secular laws and not a single divine law.....

Whats up with this religion ?

actually i think its not walking in the revelation that a person gets when they are born again that is the sin ... nobody is going to keep performing the sinful deeds of the flesh if they are following after Jesus and walking on the narrow path to life ... but every one that comes to Christ does so while they are still sinners ..

The apostle Paul wrote extensively on the OT law being superseded, yet he believed that homosexuality was still a sin. As an apostle, he had the Holy Spirit in him, so what the apostles wrote is accepted as law. Jesus didn't say anything along the lines of that homosexuality is OK, but He did say about food laws and such. Who knows? The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and whoever they tell know. God bless.

well
We are not living under the Old Testament law, having said that there are many laws in the New Testament and the majority of the OT laws are repeated. but not all..
We do not take the lives of witches, adulterers ect..
and those were in the OT law.
We have only one wife, and adultery & homosexuality are still a sin, but the here and now consequences are different..
It would be a very long post to cover it all, but I think that you get the idea.
Romans covers homosexuality
1 Cor. covers marriage, adultery, & fornication.
All New Testament..

Yeah, that's basically the feedback I get from a lifetime friend of mine when we have our debates. She goes back and forward, using whichever version of the bible she needs at that particular discussion.

But when I try to use the old testament on her she says-

" We don't really follow the Old Testament in such a literal way nowadays"

And yes you are right, they do quote the old testament when they oppose homosexuality, but most of them don't even know the fact that in their bible it clearly states that not only is being homosexual a sin but that you should be put to death immediately for being so.

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=leviticus+20:13&version=31;

My friend's first words when I quoted Leviticus 20:13 to her where-

" No, you must be saying it wrong, the bible doesn't say it like that ".

When she did take out her bible and read she was out of words for a few seconds.

She then told me that God worked in mysterious ways and that sometimes God's messages are delivered in a way we cannot fully understand because us atheist are so apart from God etc, etc.

Sad it is I know...

If homosexuality is so against nature and so wrong ? Why do we then observe homosexual behavior in non-human animals naturally ?

Oh let me guess God put them there to tempt us with their gay ways....

1Co 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,

1Ti 1:10 the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine,

These are NEW TESTAMENT scriptures.

I don't know which Christians you have been talking too, but the New Testament clearly states that homosexuality IS a sin and Jesus Himself says he did not come to destroy, but to fulfill the Law.

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

Mat 22:35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
Mat 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

When Jesus says "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." He was talking about the fact that if you love God, you will not want to have idols or take His name in vane. Also, if we love one another as ourselves, we will not want to covet what someone else has or to commit adultery or kill anyone. If we love God and love one another, we automatically keep the 10 commandments.

Maybe you should talk to some other Christians. Those more informed about what the Bible actually says.

Like you asked about homosexuality.

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." 1Cor 6:9,10

"God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator— who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done." Rom 1:24-28

Jude 1:7 "In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire."

Heb 13:4 "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral."

Furthermore Jesus said concerning marriage "at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’" of which he took as a precedent for marriage

The Bible defines Christianity.

It's a chameleon, isn't it?
It supports any type of bigotry or insanity or inanity that feels good at the time.
As long as the fundie feels superior is all that counts.
I gotta emphasise that it's fundies I have a problem with - most 'moderate' Xians, like most moderate Muslims, are fairly domesticated and therefore harmless; it's the fundie-mental ones, of any breed of theist, I have problems with.

Those who can agree we all add value to the planet's future are fine by me.

You seem to be doing a "harem-scarem" research and condemnation here. Go back, get your "research" done in a statistically reliable and valid manner, and then come back with your claims and ask your question. You may find you have no question at all. God Bless you.
