I just bought a 29" Dockers rolling/spinning suitcase, and I like it a lot. However, it is large. It measures 20" wide x 29" tall x 11" thick, plus expands another 2" thick. The measurements total 60" if I don't use the expansion capability. Most airlines seem to have a 62" limit on size and 44 pounds - after which they will charge you.

I haven't traveled much (but I plan to from now on) and I'm going to China in October. I am worried that this suitcase is too big and I will get charged extra. Air China's limits are 62" and 44 pounds.

I thought about loading it up and weighing it (will do tomorrow), but I thought I'd ask people if they own a suitcase of this size and if they have or have not had problems with checking it in on various airlines.

I guess I could return it and buy the next smaller size, but my trip is for 12 days so I feel like I need a larger bag.

Any and all advice is appreciated!

Yes, worry about it...especially traveling to China. We traveled with a lot of stuff as it was an adoption trip and we were charged at every stop along the way...not for size but for weight. So, lay out everything you want to bring on your bed, then take away half of it. Yes, half of it. China has Walmart and you can get anything you forget there. Plus...don't laugh...the laundry service is great! Don't use the hotel laundry. Go out on the street, find a laundry and negotiate. Your clothes will come back individually bagged and pressed....even my t-shirts were pressed. It was really nice because it was so hot when we were there that you could wear everything once and it had to be washed. There was no double-duty on that trip. Take comfortable, casual clothes and comfortable shoes. Have a great time.

When I took a trip to UK, I packed an extra duffel bag in my suitcase for stuff since you are allowed up to 2 check-in bags. It worked great!

if the suitcase is under the airlines limit then it should be fine. Just make sure that it weights less than the limit otherwise they would charge you or they'll make you buy one of their bags for an amount of money because it happened to me once.

Mine was 33"wide, 29" tall and 19" thick, I was traveling from europe to the US. I had to pay $100 at the airport in the US when I arrived and I paid like $50 at the airport in my country.
Besides that, I didn't have any problems.
Oh, it's hard to move it, even when it has wheels *wink*.

i'm undecided that Ghana made the rule of thumb for her voters. If a Ghanaian is vacationing to the U. S., the visa applicant has to teach to the U. S. Embassy in her u . s . issuing her visa that she has funds to shield return and forth and living expenditures. the appropriate volume is probably not as extreme the place there is somebody who can evidence of sponsorship.
