For example, is it ctrl+shift+d?
I used to know it, and I use the insert --- date & time function regularly!

Alt + Shift + D............ gives it in ONE format only eg 9/18/2007
Alt + I + T.................... gives the list of options for different formats (in the same way as clicking on INSERT.....DATE & TIME does).

Microsoft Word 97 and 2000 use Alt+I [for insert] then t [for date and time]. I doubt they changed it for 2003.
