You are sooo right! It is for those who are followers... Jesus said you must be willing to give up your whole life to be his disciple.... the only 'life' a child can have is the life their parents let them have...you must have the freedom and maturity to choose what you will and will not follow... it's almost equal to a marriage committment ...

You are correct. The baptism by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ is for forgiveness of sins. Acts 2:38. This is how St. Peter preached it from the beginning of the first day of the first Church. This is what the Apostles believed and this is what the early Church Fathers believed also.

Who TOLD you that? The bible says nothing that would prohibit infant baptism.
And NOBODY was ever baptized before John the Baptist ... and even then, John had no power to baptize with the Holy spirit.
Rather, John offered only a purely symbolic baptism of repentence.
Infant baptism, as practiced in the Catholic church, is the most powerful demonstration of salvation without works, as nothing at all is required of the infant, while grace and salvation is freely and certainly obtained, courtesy of God and his authentic, universal church, simply because God desires all to be saved.
A "conscious decision" is no more required for baptism then it was required for circumcision, a ritual that was REQUIRED, under the law of Moses, of all males, on the 8th day of life, and which remains as the strongest biblical ante-type for baptism.

Yes, they should be old enough to understand God in order to be baptised into his Kingdom. How can an infant have any knowledge of the Creator? On the other hand, it would seem that an infant, or a child below the age of reason, who dies without knowledge will see the Kingdom even without baptism.

When a baby is baptized it is ONLY to wash away the stain of original sin, nothing more. A child is then confirmed in their faith at the age of 7 or 8

that is why infant baptism is not truly a baptism. but do not get me wrong, the parents who do this type of baptising want their children to be safe from Hell...

We need to be old enough to know right from wrong when we are baptized.
