I am not attacking anyone or a religion... I want answers to this!!!
I am not going to butter something up for anyone. Yes this really did happen. The person had everyone write on the chalk board everything we think we have to live with and the man erased all of it and said the only thing you cannot live without is Joseph Smith. I am not a Mormon so I want to know why this is. How can you learn if you dont ask Q's...

Mormons cannot live without Joseph Smith because they deny the deity of Jesus Christ, and the Doctrine of the Trinity. They much prefer to follow a horse thief and a drunk, ol' Joe himself.
What I'd like to know is why they refer to themselves as Christians, when Christians do not consider them Mormons to be Christian at all?

Imitating Paul, that's a good one. I've never heard that spin before. A terrible misunderstanding of Paul. The answer, Hanna, to your VERY good question is that Joseph Smith had a huge ego and got carried away at times. There is some evidence that he suffered from a mental disorder like Bipolar Disorder and saying stuff like that would certainly fit that diagnosis. So would his hypersexuality, deciding he was a general, running for the US presidency, declaring a pile of rocks in Missouri to be an altar built by Adam, saying people live on the moon and are dressed like Quakers, and on and on. Keep up investigating the LDS church and you will see it is very very whack.

Please get real I don't even think other Christan's believe what you have said but just in case you truly think that no we do not hold Joseph smith any where close to where we hold Jesus. Jesus is our redeemer and savior Joseph Smith was just a prophet the same as Moses in fact we believe that as far as prophets go John the Baptist was a greater prophet than Joseph Smith.

Joseph Smith is considered the prophet that restored the "fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ." Remember that we're talking about the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints, not the Church of Joseph Smith.

Joseph Smith did not restore any gospel, for Jesus rightly said the church would never fail on Earth (Matthew 16:18.) And true to his word, it did not.

Thus Jesus, the Son of God, one with the Father, left no failed church for Joseph Smith to restore, only a vital faith already known and practiced the world over before Smith was even born. (In fact, one cannot avoid noticing the irony that the LDS uses a bible translated by the Church of England!)

We acknowledge Joseph Smith and all other prophets for what he did and what they continue to do. But no, we do not hold them higher than Christ. After all, Smith did have to answer to Christ on several occasions.

We don't believe that Joseph Smith is better then god. We worship God and Jesus always. All they meant by that was the fact that Joseph Smith restored the gospel on this earth and he is was the first living prophet on the earth after the time of the bible and after the death of Christ. He is a very extraordinary man . So its not that we worship him cause we don't at all that would be against the commandments( worshiping false gods) We just are very thankful of him for restoring the gospel

I have a feeling that either your story never really happened or you've taken it completely out of context. No practicing Latter-day Saint I know would say "we can live without everything except Joseph Smith"

Hmmm, this is news to me. If LDS folks actually believe this, its may be because Joseph Smith had so many wives. According to Scripture, Jesus had none, and Mormon males MUST have at least one wife if they want to get into heaven. Scary. Makes you think, doesn't it?

I am going to say, that because you are new to Y/A, that you might not understand, that there is a differenced between curiosity, and an attack on another persons beliefs!
LDS believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God! And it is their right to do so! Freedom of Religion is guaranteed in the constitution!!
JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, and His name is prominent in the name of the Church! it is not the Church of Joseph Smith! DUH!
I am going to tell you what I have been saying to everyone else! Attacking a persons right to worship as they choose,is a hate crime, as surely as if you had defamed one of their buildings!
LDS members do not EVER attack another church, or its beliefs by name ,or any other fashion!
They believe that the gospel has been restored to the earth, it is their privelge to worship as they see fit, and it is NOT up to you to judge them! They certainly will not judge you!
Anyone who does not choose to join the Church, will not be [pressured to do so!
Allow them to worship as they choose! It will not harm you,by them believing what they choose!
But, by all means, feel free to trash and bash! It shows what Christians really are like! (And I don't mean the Mormons!)

Feel free to report me, I have broad shoulders!
