I have 2 questions. Please help
1) When is the right time and age for a kitten to be given away to a famliy or pet shop? I have 8 kittens, and im sad to say this, but i have to give them away :(. There are about 1 month old now, they can walk, and eat by themselves. But im not sure how old exact they have to be in order to give them away. Please help.
2) I havent found a decent home for the kittens, so i was wondering if anyone knows a good home where i can leave them in. I dont want to give them to a stranger in the streets. Id rather give them to a person who i kno will love and take care of them. So if anyone has any info on this, please reply..
thanks

They have to be at LEAST 8 weeks before they can go. 10-12 weeks is better. Ideally hey should have had their first shots.
Please don;t give them away to people you don;t know or to a pet store. You never know what will happen to them. Sadly many kittens end up as fighting dog bait. You don;t want that for your babies.
Ask family members and friends if they want them. Maybe people you work with. If all else fails give them to a no kill shelter, but sadly there are so many unwanted kittens they may not take them. It's worth a try though.
Please get the queen spayed as soon as the kittens are gone. Last week alone our local shelter killed 41 kittens all under 3 months old. That's without the 10 adult cats. This happens almost every week. Please don;t add anymore to the problem.
Hoping you find good homes for your litter.

10 weeks is generally an acceptable time for kittens to be weaned from the mother.
The trick to giving away kittens is based on the cuteness factor. Take pictures of the kids being as adorable as possible and post them in your neighborhood. The grocery store is usually a good spot. Naturally, there's no guarantee of a home as good as yours, but you can also stipulate that if the prospective owner has any kind of problem with the kitty, that should return that animal back to you.

They should be 12 weeks old for best survival rate and also will have correct litter box habits and have been taught by the mom to clean themselves.
Check with some of the local vets to see if they take kittens in, or if they know of any foster homes or no-kill cat shelters in your area. Last thing you want is someone getting a kitten to kill it, give it to a pit bull for training or used for snake food.

those cute little kittens need to be at least 8 weeks old to give away. ( thats my opinion anyway).
no, i wouldn't just give them to a stranger on the street, i would go to your local vets, most of the time.. they will let you put up a flyer for the kittens, and a picture. if a person contacts you from the vet flyer, then you know for sure that they will take care of the animal, cause they were at the vet to start with.
also, check with the pet shops, most people that pay alittle for them will be most likely to take care of them.
good luck!

Wait at least 8 weeks. 12 is better. Mom socializes them during this time. Put out ads with photos (the awww effect is priceless) in the paper, at the vet, at the grocery store. Charge a small adoption fee to weed out impulse "shoppers". Do not put "Free Kittens" on your ad. You will be swamped with calls from kids and crazy cat ladies. Put them "For Adoption".

They are usually ready to give away at 8 weeks old. Check to see if there is a no-kill animal shelter in your area. Please make sure they go to good homes. There was a story on the news tonight about a guy who killed and mutilated 3 cats, one of the cats he adopted off Craig's List.....

8 weeks old is usually the accepted age for giving away kittens. You might want to wait longer though, if they're not entirely weaned or have problems with being away from their mother.

please call your local humane society or any one of the numerous cat rescue places. This is why its so very important to get animals spayed and neutered. Too many unwanted cats and dogs. I recently adopted a beautiful little kitten from a shelter, there were (sadly) many to choose from. Please do not leave them anywhere even if you have to sit outside Walmart or one of the stores with them - there are kindhearted people who might take them, one at a time. And they should be at least 6 weeks old but preferably 8 weeks old before you give them away.
