What if you are wrong. Just that slight possiblity that the Christian god is real, and what the bible says is true, should be enough for you to follow Jesus, right? I mean, if you are right, then we all die and no one loses. But if we are right, then you will be judged and surely go to the lake of fire. Do you really want to take that risk?

Why only mention the Christian God? There are over 2800 gods believed in by various people and religions around the world. What if it's one of THEIR gods that's going to be waiting for you on the other side? Why take the chance? You'd better get studying about what the other religions say, and go and start worshiping all the other 2800 or so gods in existence JUST IN CASE! Are you really willing to risk it? You'd better get cracking--you have a LOT of studying and worshiping to do...

You only have--at best--a 1/2800 chance of being right over me.

Pascals Wager is a old and done argument.

What if your god isn’t real and some other god is? There’s so many religions out there how can you be sure Christianity is the one true religion?

Personally, even if there was evidence that the Christian god does exist, I wouldn’t follow the religion. If there is a god and it is as described in the bible, it is kind of an @sshole and I don’t want to follow it.

Can you take your threat of burning in hell, somewhere else? It is so pleasant reading questions, that I might want to answer, until I come to the 'yet another stupid Christian question about why Atheists don't believe! I swear, I must have read this question, fifty times on any given day, Look up Pascal's challenge and read that!
I suggest that you worry about your soul, and where you are in the salvation plan of God, and leave these people alone! They are trying to get through life, just like the rest of us

Peace

Let's examine some Christian risks:

#1: Are you a Catholic or a non-Catholic? Do you really want to gamble with your soul?

#2: Do you believe in faith only or faith AND works? Do you really want to gamble with your soul?

#3: Do you keep the law as Jesus instructed in Matthew, or do you eat pork? Do you really want to gamble with your soul?

#4: Do you observe the Sabbath on Saturday as 7th Day Adventists and the Jews do as ordered by the Ten Commandments, or on Sunday because the Romans did? Do you really want to gamble with your soul?

#5: Are you a Muslim, Buddhist, Krishna, Hindu, or Shinto? Do you really want to gamble with your soul?

I could go on with countless other examples. It is an EMPTY wager.

Besides, how can I believe out of caution? I either believe and accept something is true, or I do not. How can I really believe in something as an "insurance policy"? That is a ridiculous thing to insist upon.

If there is the slightest chance (and every reasonable person will give that at least some chance) that my Creator exists, then it is reasonable that our great human need for real purpose and real meaning might come from Him.

If my Creator put my need for purpose and meaning into my nature, it can only be to point me to seek Him. Not to accept blindly some doctrine about who God is but just to honestly seek Him.

Setting aside the doctrine of heaven and hell, I simply ask myself if I want to find my Creator. For while I am attracted to the idea of the One who created me, I am simultaneously repelled by the idea of an authority over me. Whatever our decision, we will subsequently build a web of evidence that supports it.

You are ALSO gambling with your soul! You are betting that a primitive tribal god that endorsed slavery, child marriage/rape, genocide, land theft, lying/perjury, racism, etc. is the one true God, and that if this is NOT the case, that the REAL God will not be offended at your assumptions about His/Her character. Basically, you are endorsing as factual a book that repeatedly slanders the moral character of the deity, and yet you think He's going to be HAPPY with you?!?

I do not believe souls exist..... But that aside... If I were to profess a belief in a deity whether it be the christian deity or any of the other religious deities... I would be lying because that is not what I believe.. I would thus be "Damned if I do and damned if I don't"

Please read up on Pascal's Wager... It will help you ask far more intellegent and relevant questions..

Yeah, if the Christian God is real, I'm sure He appreciates people "believing" in Him as a way to "hedge their bets." This is the weakest argument ever for Christianity, and the fact that it's repeated a million times a day doesn't strengthen it any. See "Pascal's Wager."

What if the Islamic god is real? How about the thousands of Hindu gods? One of them MUST be real. What if what the Buddha says is true?

As for Pascel's wager, I consider all the time I spend in service to a god that isn't there wasted. All the money I put in the offering plate, gone for nothing.

There is something to loose by following god.

Thanks for the drink.

ummm what if you're wrong and some other God is real? Even some God you haven't even heard of, from some other culture? Then you're equally in trouble. See you in the Underworld.

Also, your logic is called Pascal's Wager. If you honestly think someone should believe in God just to get out of hellfire in case God really works that way, they don't REALLY believe in God and God isn't stupid, right? Thanks.
