Vegas from downtown LA is about 300 miles.... a tank of gas usually will get you about 250-300 miles in a compact car(depending on the car).... gas prices are going up in LA... around $3.80 a gallon at the stations along the way.

Get out your calculator...and don't forget to calculate for a round trip.... so 600 miles + any driving around you might want to do.... round up to 700 just to be safe... most small cars carry about 12-15 gallons... we'll be safe and say 12.

so... 700 miles of travelling (safe) divided by 250 miles to a tank = 2.8 tanks of gas... multiply by 12 gal. tank (safe) = 33.6 gallons x $3.80 a gallon = $127.68

So... I'd take $150 to be safe... for gas. Actually, if you don't want to get completely stranded around the Zzzyx exit on your way home, bring $200 for gas....

Heres a thought; try using the new Megabus system which has fast, low cost service between Las Vegas and LA with prices starting at just $1 as a promotion! Just go to www.megabus.com and check it out! I hear it's a fun trip on a comfy bus! Good Luck!

whilst i grow to be a vacationer right here, I used Alamo or nationwide - they're now especially a lot a similar employer. everyone seems to be severe high quality and strong. I continually have been given a good motor vehicle that grow to be sparkling and in super shape for the main suitable value. i do no longer advise dollar - no longer in user-friendly terms are they overpriced and keep an arm and a leg on your mastercard as a "deposit" (they tried to hold $500 on a $30 condo as quickly as, and their reasoning grow to be that they "have been giving me a $19,000 motor vehicle." To which I reported, "Yeah, and? I force a $30,000 SUV at abode!") and that's in the event that they even have automobiles available - they oversell so many times they run out of automobiles and don't decrease value fot you once you ought to anticipate a motor vehicle.
