I'll do it!
My choice is Dawkins, "The God Delusion". Let's blog about it!
A few specifics. I'll try to check "Heart of Christianity" out from my library. If your library doesn't have a copy of Dawkins, please let me know and I'll buy one for you (my copy fell in the hot tub and was ruined).

Borg has more in common with many of the atheists that post on here than the christians. vis- acceptance of evolution, views scripture as analogy, does not view the gospels as absolutely infallible, does not view faith as being the enemy of science, does not condemn homosexuals, does not believe in the doctrine of damnation etc. etc. If more christians were like him, the atheists would be less hostile. In other words, more power to Marcus Borg, A truly spiritual man. But its the Christians that need to read him, not the atheists!

You couldn't have asked last month when I wasn't in school? I only have 10 books and 12 plays to read as well as other scholarly works and research materials for projects.
I'd so take that challenge. Maybe I can squeeze in Borg over the Christmas (er...Winter. Screw it - Christmas) Break.

I'll take your deal if you give me a rain check on choosing a book that represents atheism well; I haven't read one I'm entirely enthralled with.
Were you a fundy, I'd recommend Sam Harris' Letter to a Christian Nation. But since you're not, it would just be a straw man.

I'm sorry, but I can't make that deal. There is no "atheist" book of My choice, except all of them, which I place in the "fiction" section, and then destroy.

I've read Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. Isn't that close enough?

I've read it.
I agree with him that Jesus was not the son of god.
Other than that, it was mostly feel-good stuff...not much substance.
