Just a suggestion, consider trying public transit for the trip. There are several easy options for routing such as taking the Red Line subway to union station and the direct Flyaway bus from there. The entire trip would cost only $1.25 for the subway + $4.00 for the Flyaway bus. You will get dropped off right at your airline terminal and the travel time would be no more than 75 to 90 minutes in total! The other option would be to take bus #217 from Hollywood to the west LA transit center on Fairfax Blvd then bus #439 to LAX with that routing costing only $1.25 on the first bus + $1.25 again on the second bus with a travel time of around 90 minutes as well. Good luck!

Off peak via La Cienega---maybe 35-40 minutes...Lynn, this is how the locals do it and it is surprisingly fast. Much of the traffic on La Cienega, say south of Pico, is mostly (it seems) going to the airport. The cars do not, ummm, fiddle around...Any street going south from Hollywood will hit Wilshire, take a right turn and go La Cienega. (Not positive but I think the intersection is a 5 way stop there, well that's where I turn left anyway) Then take a left and it will take you to La Tierja (a/k/a/ Aviation Blvd.)--It's EZ just follow the planes that are landing all the time...

I don't like to describe distances in terms of time, because
the time can vary tremendously. It depends on how fast
you go and how bad the traffic is snarled up. Under ideal
conditions you could make it in about 30 mins. but if it's
around 5 pm or 8 am and the traffic is snarled it could take
several HOURS - no kidding!

1/2 hour without any major traffic snafus. Take La Cienega to La Tierja....don't get on the freeway.
