Oh those crazy people have horns, they also have an oval office in the Washington DC temple so they are prepared for when the government falls, They also own Coca Cola co.
Their beliefs revolve around a goat and a salamander and they are people with 1000 wives that walk on the moon.
Does Any body beleve this, because if they do, i fear for them, Even if i wasn't mormon, i couldn't beleve this. This is just too weird. Yet i have had many people ask me these.

Over the years I have heard so many weird things they are often difficult to pick into individual things.. But I will try..
While I was in H.S. a girl told me "Mormons have sex in the temple because they think it will make them more fertile.. The elders of the church watch the sex and guide the couple in the act." I was floored...
My family is all Mormon and my parents, grandparents etc. regularly attend temple services... Now them having sex anywhere let alone in the temple was a mental picture I didn't want nor need at 15...
Not to mention the claim was completely fabricated... Mormons do not have sex in the temple...
Addition: I have often thought about starting a new rumor and seeing how fast it would grow and how quickly it would return imbellished.. Maybe something like ... " Mormons are baptised in the blood of the dead not water during baptisms for the dead." Some really outrageous thing and see what happens LOL

1. A guy at work asked me what I was wearing when I was married in the temple. I said, "A wedding dress." He laughed and looked VERY relieved! I asked him what he had heard. It took no less than 20 minutes to admit the rumor. He HEARD that the couple was naked in the temple during the marriage ceremony! That was the reason other temple could not go in. So I was telling an RM that and he said that on his mission someone asked if this was true: That during the temple marriage ceremony, the couple had sex on the altar in front of all the family. That the sheets were shown to prove virginity.
Sorry for being so graphic. But that is what is floating out there.

I'm kind of like a few of the others who have answered - I've heard so many, it's kind of hard not to spend all day mentioning all the rumors (and variations thereof - i.e. instead of, or in addition to, owning Coca-Cola, the Church owns Pepsi or Marlboro).
Some of the more weird ones I've heard that are supposedly true (but, of course, aren't really) include:
*The Mormon Church keep UFOs hidden in the temples and in the Tabernacle in Salt Lake.
*There are sentient alien lizards going incognito among us, and have many miles of hidden passageways under many major cities in the U.S. (yes, including Salt Lake, where there's supposedly a large supply of military personnel and supplies being gathered by the Church directly under Temple Square), and that many notable people (including U.S. Sentator Orrin Hatch of Utah) are really members of this alien species.
*The Mormon pioneers who came out west and who first settled Utah lived in caves for many years, and didn't even start building homes or other structures until non-Mormon settlers started coming into the region.
*Bill Gates is really a Mormon, and he developed the Microsoft computer operating system to help the Mormon Church take over the world.
*There are many scandelous sexual things that go on in the temples.
*Members (and especially missionaries) tell you that tithing is only 10%, but that amount is quietly increased the longer you're a member.

I get it. This is a way to make fun of all those weird rumors going around about us :)
One of the things I heard in Yahoo Answers is that Mormons eat their red-headed babies. lol..... I CANNOT believe someone would actually believe this. If it had been true, this religion would be illegal in the US. Not to mention I wouldn't have an aunt and half of my cousins wouldn't exist if that were true.
And Diane, that is one of the strangest rumors I have ever heard! It had me floored too (and I am a Mormon).

I had a guy in all seriousness say that Mormons lived out in west, dressed simply and only ate what they could grow out of the ground. I heard the sex in the temple thing too.

Only what I saw while a member. Nice enough people, beliefs that seem to focus mainly on the positive. Not as weird as portrayed, and certainly no polygamists.
Edit: I had someone, when I was LDS, ask if they actually baptise dead bodies in the temple...
There's a mental image for ya!

The largest crazy thing coming to mind is that so many non-believers claim that the Latter-day Saints do not believe in Jesus Christ, that He is the very Son of God in whose great Atonement makes it possible for all of us to rise from the grave in the resurrection.
Yet when these same people are reminded of the Church's official name they maintain their sillyness.
