I think it really depends on the exact situation. I would like to think that all parents love their children unconditionally but then you hear about stories when parents kill their children. How could you kill someone that you love? The majority of parents love their children unconditionally even if they do things to piss each other off. A loss would definitely affect a parent and unfortunately they may take that loss out on their children just because they are the closest to them and they know they will love them no matter what. But unfortunately I think there will always be the sociopaths that are incapable of feeling emotion.

You don't have to be special because to them, you are perfect.
A child is a living expression of love. The first time you hold your newborn in your arms, you look into their eyes and the bond you had when they were inside of you (or your partner) just expands and envelopes you with love that is just overwhelming.
The child is the continuance of the parents. Their own part in the circle of life.
Sometimes, if you really start acting out, the parents may not like you too much as a person, but they will always love you unconditionally. Even murderers have parents who love them.
I've heard that the bond you share with your children doesn't even compare to what you share with your grandchildren and if you're lucky enough to live that long.. with your great grandchildren. It just increases with each generation.
It's wonderful to see a child who understands how deeply their parents love them.
And they don't just think you're spectacular, they know it.

Its hard to explain, I'm not really sure that i can, but i can tell you this, when you have your own child then you will understand why, its like, how can you not? Two people who loved each other very much got together to make a human being that is so beautiful and precious, you know that you'll do anything and everything for that child. Its a promise that is made and is kept over the years.

Before I had children of my own, People were always talking about their kids and it was sooooooooooo BORING!!! I could seriously care less!!!! But now that I have my own children, I seriously cannot stop talking about them!!! When you have your own children you will understand, YOu go through everything with them!! They really are a blessing!!
I lost a baby at 23 weeks March 2006, I even love Ariel unconditionally even though I don't get to spend time with her.

You will never fully understand the love of a parent/child relationship until you have your own. I never thought I could love anyone so much. And you'd think if you had more than one, your love would be divided equally between the kids- and it is, only it's significantly increased, in ways that again, you can't understand until you have your own. Parents look at their children, knowing that you are part of them- every look you give, every step you take, it's because we (your parents) made you. It's nice to see a child(?) who appreciates that love : )

Having the ability to have a child is incredible! To know that you created a human that is part of you and the person you love is mind blowing! You are responsible for that life and they depend so much on you. It's so hard to put into words but this is as close as I can describe it. I hope this helps!

Well, you could have bigger problems, I'm sure. But, the answer is because our children are part of us, so of course with love them without condition. Rejecting your child, even a grown-up child, is like rejecting a part of yourself. I hope you consider yourself blessed...not everyone has parents who appreciate them.

I never knew why my mother put up with me until I was pregnant. Then I just suddenly fell in love with the tiny life inside of me, and knew nothing could ever change that.
