A good suggestion for a good desktop calender would be the Mozilla Sunbird. It's free open source and the best i have ever used.
I mean try it i am sure you will like it if (if) you don't like it, its free....
In case you don't KNOW the company Mozilla they make program such the Mozilla Firefox an alternate to Internet Explorer and Thunderbird an alternate to Microsoft outlook. And more application.....

The one that comes with Outlook is excellent in my opinion.
