I'm not keen on the tempur mattress as I found that I felt as though I had to climb out of the mattress just to turn over. Beds are very personal though. I bought a new bed a couple of months ago and I read as much info as I could about them and went all over the place to try different ones out becasue they can be a huge expense for a really good one. Mine cost me just over £3000 so you really have to be sure that you're buying the one that's right for you and not anybody else.
It's like anything - you get what you pay for - but I read that the best type of mattress is a pocket sprung mattress and I also read that you should get the best mattress that you can afford and the largest bed that you have the space for. Eg if you can accommodate a king size or a super king then go for it.
I'm not an authority on beds but I read that the more springs you get the better the bed. Mine has 2600 pocket springs, there's guaranteed 'no roll together' . Both me and my husband have suffered with our backs and this bed has been the best thing since sliced bread.
NB springs is a completely different thing to pocket springs. If you Google 'pocket spring bed company' it tells you all about it. They are now part of the silentnight group and if you go on their website too there is loads of info.
When I decided to buy a new bed I thought I'd just pop out and get one in a matter of minutes but then I realised that you really do have to look into them properly and do your research and then you reap the rewards.

You'll get multi answers here. Mother hates her Tempurpedic, she finds the foam makes her sweat....wakes up in a "puddle". Husband and I use a Select Comfort.....however, dog likes to sleep on my side which upsets the "sleep number." So I go to the recliner in which I sleep like a rock which makes me think maybe it's time for an adjustable bed for me. You'll have to try various types many different times.....when you are tired or in pain, when you are fresh. I know many offer a 30 day test period.....which is fine except you have to hang on to your old mattress for 30 days and then ship back the bed if you don't like it.......what a bother.

Tempurpedic. I got one of those things last year and it's amazing how comfortable they are. Even when you're sleeping on your back, your derierre just sinks into the foam, reducing the stress on your spine. Same thing when on your side: your hips sink in, keeping your spine straight and eliminating strain on your back muscles.
The best thing about them is the fact that they transfer absolutely no motion. So, if you sleep with someone, and they go to bed or get up before you, or they toss and turn in their sleep, you'll never even know they were there.
A California king was $2200. But, it was worth every penny.

Whatever you buy, check it like this.....
Lay on the matrass in your normal sleeping position, then try pushing your hand under at various point, to check if the matrass is supporting you evenly, easier to get someone else to do this for you...You need one that supports full length evenly.
