Yes, that's way too old to have a bottle... most children get weaned off the bottle around 1 year old. You don't want him to still be needing a bottle when he goes to kindergarten, do you? Take that bottle away, cold turkey and give him a cup.

Definitely too old.I took my son off the bottle as soon as he hit 2 years old. Been bottle free since july 4th. His birthday was june 14th. I just simply took it from him. No weaning. Take it from him cold turkey. Give him a sippy cup instead for nap and bedtime. Just put water in his cup with a few ice cubes to keep it cold through the night. No sugar. My son has almost givin up the sippy cup at night. He don't like plain water. And I don't give in to him. Sometimes you have to show "tough" love.

4 is way too old to be drinking from a bottle. He needs to learn how to drink from a cup. If you are having trouble getting him off the bottle try switching to a sipper bottle (drink bottle) instead of a babies bottle it will be better for his teeth and gums at least.
Really tho you need to try getting him to dring from a cup or he is never going to want to and you will end up having to send him to school with a babies bottle and he will get teased and that won't be fair on him.

Can he drink from a cup, but just prefers the bottle?
Most people and pediatricians would say four years old is too old, but probably because doctors would be worried he wasn't capable of drinking from a cup (and it was a developmental thing). Other people probably say 4 is too old because they are judgmental and think they know everything.
My nephew still took a bottle when he was three, and my family totally gave my sister crap about it, which was awful. I'm in the camp that says let the kids do what they want to do and what is right for them. My nephew just really liked his bottle, and when he came home from daycare he would sit and snuggle and drink it. It was just a nice, relaxing, soothing time for him. I don't think there's anything wrong with that at all.

No. I know 50 year olds who still occasionally drink whiskey from a bottle. My 14 year old drinks frappicino from a bottle. And, by the way, her teeth are fine. One is never too old to drink from a bottle.

I don't think the whole messing up your kids teeth thing is entirely true. My older sister who is 4 years older than me would steal my bottles when i was a baby so that would make her 4-5 years old. AND let me tell you she has PERFECT teeth..no cavities, white, straight and she has never been to the dentist. My brother is 4 and still on the bottle. What makes me laugh is when 6-7 year olds are wetting themselves and ppl think 'its okay...it'll pass' but if a 3-4 yr old is still on the bottle that makes their parents unfit or bad....Come on ppl my brother will stop drinking out of his bottle when he's ready. They all do.

Yes. He should be drinking from a regular cup. Most kids I know start using a sippy cup by age 1 and a regular child size cup by age 2. By 4, he should be able to use a regular size cup.

Breast Milk is better, as far as the bottle, you really should wait until he is at least in school before you offer him that bottle of Jack!

Not at all.
My Sister has a five year old son; and he still drinks from the bottle. No formula though. My brother in law warms up milk in the microwave for 90 seconds, then pours the warm (Not Hot) milk into his Baby bottle.
he loves it, I would stop at a reasonible amount of time; or when your son decides too. If your son enjoys it and it's part of a rountine I'd keep it going. :D
