If you don't eat for a while your body realizes it and begins to switch modes, it hoards energy to store to keep you alive. Many of the calories initially eaten after a fast may indeed be converted to fat for storage, but since you will likely come out of the mode within 24 hours, you won't store that much or gain that much weight, if any at all since you lose much water weight during a fast.

there are a lot of theories... there is such a theory that you should not eat late, 2 hours before sleeping and so on(about eating after sunset). Don't believe in it. It's bad for liver to skip meals. There are a lot of stupid sayings about weight. Like eating wrong products for you blood type or eating together some food and so on. If you'll believe in everything you'll have to stop eating at all. there is also a theory that not eating at all is bad, can make you fatter later when you start eating again....

Site below has 18 quotes about fasting by MDs plus quote from New England Journal of Medicine telling how fasting helps you lose weight.

your body starts to store the energy after you eat a big meal and then dont eat fo ra while because it needs to save energy and then when you eat again you have the stored energy and the energy from what you just ate and then it converts to fat because its not being used
