They give you a certificate of marriage, you do not need a social to get a license anywhere in the U.S. after you get the license to get married. you get the certificate. he just need to proof his name. after you go trough all that you can see a good lawer beware there are alot of scamers out there. You can petition for him since you are a citizen. Immigration will send you a confirmation trough mail. After that he can apply to get a green card. If you want the absolute easy & quick way I will tell you. He should return to his country and you can fiance visa him. Turn around time is just a couple of months. Of course your income will be the only stipulation as an affidavit of support is required.

I do realize that Bush has a relaxed attitude towards illegal mexicans. The biggest mistake you could make is to marry him in Mexico as now the Visa changes from fiance to relative. Relative Visa's take a very, very long time...Years.

I do not know what your relationship is but I would prefer to put myself in a less complicated relationship.

Your main problem will be the fact that he is an illegal immigrant. Unfortunately, immigration looks down upon illegals. Once you apply (for a fiance or spouse) they can very easily reject him just based on that. Even if he goes home and applies from there, the usa will see that he was staying here as an illegal immigrant and again that's rejection. You may want to speak to a lawyer on an informal basis, email some.

If you are really in love, the love will survive a long distance relationship. The dumbest thing you can do is marry for legal status. Let him go home and visit him there. Or maybe you can move to his country while you're maturing the relationship.

If you don't, years from now, you might end up being a single mom---even if you don't, you will probably end up kicking yourself for making a bad choice, or be back on this board asking how to get un-stuck from your rut. This may sound cliche, but youth is so precious. Don't waste it on unnecessary entanglements that could take years to release yourself from.

If you decide to marry, wait a few years and see how the relationship pans out and decide whether or not you have the same goals in terms of family and finances---then marry.

It's nice that you want to help your boyfriend. But it really is his responsibility to do the right thing. If he is willing to break the law now for his own ends, then what's to prevent him from breaking the law or your heart later on in the relationship?

If later, he cheats on you or hits you or leaves you broke and carrying the bills, can you blame anyone but yourself? You will be the one who overlooked the crime he is committing now for "love".

Woman to woman, I hope you do the right thing.

See that's a big problem with illegals...they always want someone else to help them instead of helping themselves! You would be unbelievable braindead to marry him to get him citizenship. As soon as your 6 years are up (I believe that is the number of years you have to be married before he's in the clear) he is going to drop you like a bad habit.

Be smart about this...illegals only want one thing from Americans....

and it isnt love!

One of my family members just went through the same situation. She had to go back to Juarez (she lives in CA) to make an appointment with Immigration. When she went to her appointment they told her she had to stay a few weeks and gather documents that Immigration needed to decide whether or not to grant her a visa to stay in the US. You will need to get letters from family, friends and employers stating why it is important for him to stay in the US. They ask the documents/letters be 15-20 pages. Once she went back with all her letters and the forms they need (check of uscis.gov, it is a great website with lots of info) they gave her a visa to return legally. Hope this helps. Good luck.

He needs to return to his home country to apply for a visa.

The whole love/marriage mess aside, if he is wanting to go to college here, all he would need to do is apply for a student visa.

The best thing to do is to move to the country where he was born, and build a better life for yourselves there. That way you won't have to worry about details like immigration status.

Well, check on the Internet in the state where you live and find out what documents you need to get married. If he can't produce the documents, you can get married in the country where he is from if you have the money to go there. One solution might be to go to Las Vegas. Check and see what documents they require.
